Guest guest
I hurt my back at work in 96 and after having an EMG done in 97 I found out I had CMT my father and sister found out 2 years earier that they had it but the doctor said it was a 50/50 chance to pass it on and since my sister had it I didn't need to get tested. My Orthopedic doctor said I had a strainedd muscle before he found out I had CMT so he sent me to physical therepy and after about 6 months of that I had the EMG. After another 2 months of therepy I went to a chiropractor he helped me out a lot and I was doing better. I then found out CMT was in the same catagory as MD so I made a few phone calls and was sent to Long Island Collage Hospital same one my father and sister went to they done a DNA test and I have CMT type 2. They done some tests and stuff but when I saw the main doctor can't remember his name but he is supposed to be an expert in CMT but when I kept telling him I was in pain he told me people with CMT don't have pain. My sister joined the CMTA and she gets magazines a few times a year and one of them had an article about CMT and pain and it also said your prone to back sprains and strains so I went back and showed him the magazine but he said it was something else causeing the pain and since I didn't have insurance at the time he didn't want to do anything and told me that I was just going to have to live with the pain that was the last time I went back there. Then my father was telling me he had the same pain in his back that I do but I think because of the type of work I used to do I put to much strain on my back. I was in construction for 13 years when I hurt my back. So does anyone else have any lower back problems? I'm in constant pain and I take Valium and Tylenol with Codine and that just barely controls the pain. Sorry for the long story. Thank you, Tommy
