Guest guest
Donna, I too wear the Toe Off Braces. I have not experienced the same things, but my orthotist put padding around various areas and glued an orthotic device on the bottom before I ever took them home. I too felt like my gait was so much better. I was able to take bigger strides and my posture appeared to be better. But alas, after a couple months, the exhiliration of walking better seemed to disappear. I am unable to walk without AFOs, and also need to explore a better option. One that is sturdier and gives me more support. Please keep me posted on what you find out. Unfortunately, my insurance is not as nice as yours. I had to write a letter on attorney letterhead in order to get them to approve the Toe-Off. But now that I am so much weaker, I believe I am wiser now in dealing with insurance companies. Guest guest
Hi Jackie, Have you had the orthotist examine your Toe-Offs for delamination? I had the same experience of their feeling great ( " wings on your heels " )and then after a few months a loss of efficacy. The defect wasn't apparent to me until the orthotist pointed out that what looked like the texture of the Kevlar was really a separation of the layers. If you've had the braces less than a year, they should be covered under the warranty, and as I said the Camp company was really great about replacements. You might want to inquire about the Ypsilon brace as well. It is a sturdier version of the Toe-Off. Donna
Guest guest
Thanks for the info! I have had mine for over 2 years. The orthotist that fit me is now living in the Mid West, but I am going to go to someone new for a more complete evaluation and to see what elese is out there. I will look at the Ypsilon brace. I think I may be more ready for a customized brace at this point. Jackie
