Guest guest
Laurel- Thank you very much for the information. As you may have experienced, this is all so new to me and so very confusing. I don't understand the risk I have of passing this on to my new baby or any future babies, since I am a " spontaneous mutation " . I suppose it might be higher than 50%, but from the emails I have read, there is not enough info to support an exact figure....probably never will be:) Glad to hear of your success with Meagan. I have a 10 month baby boy and can't help but feel guilty and sad if I indeed passed this on to him. Hopefully, not. I do appreciate the article and your email. -Amy
Guest guest
Hello Everyone, In my own personal experience and having 5 children one should not feel guilty to passing on CMT as even if one did not have CMT there are other disorders one could pass on. Even two very healthy parents can have a baby with birth defects. Each day is a lesson to learn from them. Thanks, Heidi
Guest guest
I wouldn't trade my children for the world but I would like to see them healed of their CMT. That's my life's lesson.
Guest guest
I don't think anyone should feel bad about having children. I would hate to think that my mother would think twice about having me if she knew. (I am the only one with this) Despite my problems, I have had a great life. Instead of looking at the things I can't do anymore, I look at what I can. I am a mother, a wife, a great friend, a special education teacher, a christian, and so many other great things. CMT is a part of my life but it isn't my life and I am not going to let it hold me back ever. Yes, I wear AFOs and my hands are starting to curl, but if we all have to have something, then CMT is not the worst thing I could have. Guest guest
Hello , I guess we can just be thankful that our children do not have life threatening issues. Did you see the opera show with Sponake (spelling?) It was very moving when his mom came back on after he died. So sad. I am thankful everyday knowing that there may be challenges for my children but they can live a full life. Heidi
