Tommy,

Thanks for the information. My mother has arthritis and a very bad back so I

can sympathize with you. I see the awful pain my mother is in and it's awful

that I can't do anything to help her with her pain. I have arthritis in my

right hip and the doctor said I will probably need hip replacement within 10

years (well 9 know because he told me that last year). I also have arthritis in

my right hand and a touch of carpel tunnel in my left. I wonder if those

diagnosis will change now that I know about the CMT. I guess I should probably

talk to my neurologist about that. I will talk to my mother about arthritis on

her side of the family. She may even remember a little about my father and

his mother.

I don't have drop foot but I do trip a lot and my balance is off. I tripped

over the dogs bone a few weeks ago and went right down. My feet just wouldn't

work to catch me.

I just can't get over this group though. So informative and caring.

Thanks again.

Elaina,

When my father was diagnosed with CMT we didn't know where it came from nobody

on my dad's or mom's side showed any signs. my dad was about 58 when he found

out. But when we looked beck my grandfather on my dad's side was in a home and

he had a lot of the symptoms of CMT but they said it was arthritis. that

was about 15 years ago so we think he had it.

we have a very mild case my sister doesn't have many problems but she was clumsy

as a child. my dad used to get bad cramps in his legs at night and he had the

drop foot and some hand problems.

I have it worse than my sister I have drop foot plus 8 years ago I hurt my back

and it's all muscular and I have severe nerve damage. One of my dad sister

thinks she has it but I don't know if she had it checked out.

So check to see if any of your grandparents had bad arthritis since most doctors

don't know enough about CMT thats what they said it was. good luck and tell your

mom not to fell guilty my dad never did he didn't even know he had it.

Best of luck,

Tommy
