I sell lip balms through Avon. I asked about my cracked lip the other day. I

got this responce saying not to use vasaline. I have a ton of lip balms

including some Care Deeply with Aloe. I think the Aloe Vera plant would be a

good ingredient but it's most likely cheaper to buy one thing of chapstick (even

if it's from me).Jessika

Lip Balms: Melt and Pour v. From Scratch

Hi Ladies--Has anyone ever worked with a good brand of melt and pour lip balms

or is it always better to make your own lip balm from scratch? If you prefer to

make it from scratch and wouldn't mind sharing your recipe, I would greatly

appreciate it.Thanks a ton.

Lip balms are easy to make from scratch and here is a simple recipe

4 oz beeswax, either white or regular

4 oz oil such as olive, almond, apricot kernal, etc

1/2 ts Vit E liquid

Melt all together in pot or in glass in microwave until beeswax is

melted then let it cool a while so it is not too hot and pour into a

lip balm tube and let it cool until firm before covering with the

top so moisture does not form inside the cover.

You can also add some sweetner if desired such as 1/4 ts of honey or

Stevia [natural sweetner] or Flavoring oils. Do not add Essential

Oils [EO] unless your sure no one is allergic to them and even then

only a few drops, and never add any Fragrance oils to a lip balm.

hope this helps, Sherry
