Guest guest
Hi Kay, My son Jeff was sick with strep all the time. He has had his tonsils out and still has had strep. On the OCD-list I have read some info. on the connection between OCD and strep. I think the name for it is PANDAS. Maybe someone else can correct me on the name if this is not it. I know it is close to this though. Jeff had a horrible reaction to Prozac. We now have him on Celexa. It is pretty new on the market. I also take it and am VERY happy with it. Jeff is doing very well with it too. There are hardly any side effects. That is one of the reasons the Dr. and I chose this drug. The only side effect I have felt was having the cold sweats for the first week or two. Jeff was able to sleep very well in the past, but we noticed that he was waking up very early once he started on Celexa.(2 or 3 am) The Dr. put him on BuSpar along with the Celexa. The BuSpar has helped him sleep and he just seems a lot calmer. These two drugs hopefully are going to work for him. We have tried so many. It has been very frustrating for him and us trying to find the right drug. Just hang in there. There are so many great drugs out there now. Keep trying!! I know it can be frustrating, believe me!! Keep us posted. Best Wishes!! take care, ---Kay Dugan <alilnutty@...> wrote: > > From: Kay Dugan <alilnutty@...> > > > How nice to find more people to have as support!! > > I have a 6 yr old son with OCD and other medical and emotional issues. > So many parents that responded in these letters have experienced > problems like ours. Guest guest
Hi , Thanks for the welcome. I grinned ear to ear when I saw how much we have in common. Ya know most of my doctors have looked at me funny when I've told them how much I used to do. I don't know why they do. It's like I've said, the pain before was manageable and sometimes I had no pain at all. You want to feel tired feet try marching in step for 5-10 miles right?! Or doing a half time show and moving around a football field for 15-20 minutes in sub zero weather! I just got such a kick out of your welcome. I'm sure we'll have a lot to talk about. Thanks again, Elaine.
