Guest guest
Jan, Thank you for the information. I sure will check into it. I had no ideal that there was anything like this. I have asked them to let her change classes early so she isn't having to change with everyone else. It takes her longer and she gets pushed. They will not even do this for me. They did let me get extra books for her at home so she does not have to carry them back and forth. Janet
Guest guest
Janet, That is ridiculous. Unfortunately, you have to be her advocate and fight for her. Our IEP (individualized education program) meeting for my son included the vice principal, guidance counselor, his main teacher at the time and a psychiatrist or special ed specialist from the county. Call the county board of education and tell them the situation and insist on a meeting. They MUST make reasonable accomodations and leaving class a few minutes early certainly sounds reasonable to me. Here are some sites that you can print off material to show to the school http://www.mdausa.org/publications/Quest/q33iep.html http://www.etsu.edu/students/disable/fhandbok.htm http://www.ed.gov/parents/needs/speced/iepguide/index.html Jackie
Guest guest
Jackie, Thank you for the sites. I will print them off and take a look at them. I will do what ever it takes to get my daughter her what she needs to do well in school. They really keep me upset all the time. I think I am up there at the school 2 times a week fighting for her.
