Guest guest
yes angelo I am going for another round after I take a few days off. Thanks for your encouragement.. It is fine that you added my pics from last year. I'm flattered that they would be helpful to people. The new ones won't be nearly as much of a change but I must say that the 10 lbs I gained last year looked a lot worse on film than they did in the mirror...yikes!!! I'm curious. last week i did step aerobics and power walking. this week i wanted to do some of my virgin cardio workouts -- there is a fitprime cardio workout on my to-do shelf, along with some vigorous kickboxing, one of the firm bss3 cardio workouts... the list goes on and on. but since i have a funny feeling in my ankle, i will have to take it easy today and just do a leslie sansone and an easy taebo. >Are you going to mix in the slim series later on? yes....i posted my workout schedule for this rotation to the 'files' section if you want to look at it. im doing the slim in 6 workouts, then moving into the slim series workouts as the rotation progresses. >Question about slim series: Does it have alot of pylos or is it mostly >strength training. no, there are not that many plyometrics... well there is running/jogging, jumping jacks and some other athletic cardio/strength moves like burpees (squat thrusts) but they are not the main focus of the slim series workouts. doing strength training exercises with alot of reps with light dumbells and a resistance band are the main idea. >Oh by the way, even though I haven't been doing videos lately I've been >getting a great workout at my swim class and practicing at my pool. i think that is awesome and i would love to do that! im looking into signing the kids up for swimming lessons tomorrow. maybe some day i will actually get to take some sort of aqua class. that sounds fabulous. :*carolyn. -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Guest guest
My life calmed down until today when my car wouldn't start! I think the battery died, it's at the dealership now. My Mom came to pick me up and she backed into the neighbor's granddaughter's truck! My Mom's bumper was badly dented and her tail-light was smashed! I really NEED a vacation! Guest guest
I know this is 4 months after your posting. Hopefully you're still reading posts. I'm cleaning out my inbox & ran across this. If your knee is still puffy, it could help if your doc aspirates the knee. After I had surgery for a torn meniscus last year, my knee was swollen for 3 months & really hurt -- a lot more than before the surgery. After the doc aspirated it, the pain was gone! I do still sometimes, if I haven't been active, get a lot of pain in that knee because of all the meniscus & articular cartilage that's missing, but have found that if I get a certain amt of exercise, the fluid that's produced in response -- not enough to make the knee swell -- must be acting as a cushion to keep the bones apart, because I can walk at least a mile, and around the house I have no problem, even w/stairs. (I'd walk further, but apparently we're not going to have summer this year -- it's Apr 20, nearly 2 pm, and the temp. is 36. It snowed briefly last night. Don't understand it.) Ann Re: new member- questions I'm trying to get Carticel approved right now (Insurance is denying it) and have done tons of research. Basically, they take a bit of good cartilage from somewhere else in your knee, and culture it in a lab to grow more cells. They then (in a later surgery) put the cultured cells into the defect in your cartilage, and take a tiny sliver of bone off your shin bone to glue over the cell " mash " to keep it in place while it grows into cartilage. So yes, it's an implant. The formal name for the procedure is autologous (meaning it comes from yourself) chondrocyte (the name of the cartilage cells) implantation (aka ACI). the outcomes vary according to where in the knee your lesion is, and some other factors. My lesion is on my patella (kneecap) and the outcomes are actually very good (studies show from 65% good/excellent results in the earlier ones to 86% good/excellent in the most recent in 2005) **WHEN** they correct the underlying mal-tracking problem that caused the lesion in the first place. The first patellar studies done didn't correct the mal-tracking problems, and had a 29% success rate. For femoral condyle (the end of the thigh bone), the rates are high 80's% to low 90's%, and I haven't seen specific studies for tibial (shin bone) lesions. I and others here will answer other questions as we're able... the people here have been very nice to me. :-) Meg. Guest guest
Well Jen, today my powerbelt arrived. Thanks so much for telling me about it. I ordered it on ebay, it was the cheapest I could find it. I think I am really going to like it. When you wear yours do the rope packs fall towards your back and hips kind of, I think I still need to play with mine a little more until I find how I like it exactly. If I use it a lot as I get stronger I may try to find the higher resistance 3 and 4 pack refills but for now I am fine with the 1 and 2 that came with it. I will also be on the lookout for the videos. I just love it when you all lead me to new things, I am so easy. I have other goodies (lots of them actually, I was good to myself this Christmas) that have arrived in the last few days but I am off to bed now so I will tell you all about those later. Have a great evening and morning to some of you by now. in CA To When I bought it Kathy was promoting it, now Austin is doing that. Here's a link I found http://www.walkerswarehouse.com/powerbelt.asp Maybe you can find the videos/dvds on ebay or some place like that. You can buy some of Gilad's workouts he taped for Fit tv ask Carolyn, she knows. You should get Sharon Mann's THE WORKS which is basically all of her fit tv programs but you can customize each part of your workout..pretty cool. Guest guest
Jen, please don't go to all that trouble, I appreciate the thought though. These are on the side a little towards the back, I'm sure they are fine. I will spend some time with them this weekend. It didn't come with a video but it does have some instructions I still need to read. My son is already asking to borrow it, I said no way, this is my toy go get your own. in CA To When I bought it Kathy was promoting it, now Austin is doing that.
