Guest guest
I am waiting to get diagnosed through the MDA clinic. They won't see me until March 4, I got the appt in January. I asked about a few other MDA clinics in my area the lady told me they are into appt in April and May they only take appt the first Friday of the month. I am wondering is there somewhere else to get tested quicker? My hands and arms are completely name most of the day. Especially when I sleep it seems worse. It wakes me up all night long. I went to my doctor about the CMT she tried to diagnose me by checking my reflex. I had no reflex in one knee but not the other she just said you don't have it. This was a year ago. My symptoms are worse every day. I have even stopped working. My feet are so swollen I can't hardly walk. I am 29 years old. I wore a hip brace the first year of my life. I was put up for adoption at birth and b-family contacted me a couple of years ago to let me know about CMT. My birth father died at 38 years old. Had one leg amputed at 16 and the other at 32. I went to the doctor last week mentioned CMT again told her about the numbness she said I have carpal tunnel. She prescribed vitamin B complex and Elavil. Hasn't helped yet. it is hard for me to type brush my hair etc.. Thanks, Christie **** Christie, MDA clinics are only held a few days each month, so that's why the wait. If you want to, I suggest seeing a neurologist in private practice. I'm sure you could get an appointment before March. Getting tested, if it is the DNA test, will take about 28 days. In the meantime, if you have the EMG/NCV testing, the doctor can tell from those results if you have Type 1 or Type 2. (As soon as he/she has read them and written the report) Stress really wrecks us out. Meanwhile, get extra sleep, more than usual. Rest as often as you can. Naps too. Take some hot, relaxing baths. Eat nutriciously. When I first took Elavil, I noticed a difference in 4 days, but it took about 3 months to really feel the beneficial results. Perhaps a simple wrist support or brace OTC would help you with the CT and allow you some support in brushing your hair. Gretchen
