Hello everyone,

My name is Candy,I am 49, also deaf, disabled with CMT 1. Also have Mitral

Valve Prolaspe along with scolosis of the spine. At the age of 23 I had my first

spinal tap due to an acoustic neuroma. Again at the age of 36 for MS,it took 3

more spinal taps to confirm I had CMT. They flew my last spinal tap fluid to

California for diagnosis.

I also have breathing problems and after years of smoking cigarettes I've

decided to try to quit. I'm happy to say I'm smoking half an pack an day.

I despertly want to quit as cancer and heart disease runs in my family, I lost

my mother in 92 to lung cancer, and my father in 1999 to congestive heart

failure. Although I'm the only one in my family with CMT I think my mother had

this also as she also had high arches (so do I).I have worked since I was 14 up

to 1999 and had to go on SSDI.

I'm the process of learning sign lanuage as I've read lips all my life, I was

told with only 30% hearing I would lose more as I age. Anyway I just

want to thank you for this support, it's great to see I'm not alone in

this and I'm able to learn more about this disease.

god bless u all,

Candy
