Guest guest
Hello everyone, My name is Candy,I am 49, also deaf, disabled with CMT 1. Also have Mitral Valve Prolaspe along with scolosis of the spine. At the age of 23 I had my first spinal tap due to an acoustic neuroma. Again at the age of 36 for MS,it took 3 more spinal taps to confirm I had CMT. They flew my last spinal tap fluid to California for diagnosis. I also have breathing problems and after years of smoking cigarettes I've decided to try to quit. I'm happy to say I'm smoking half an pack an day. I despertly want to quit as cancer and heart disease runs in my family, I lost my mother in 92 to lung cancer, and my father in 1999 to congestive heart failure. Although I'm the only one in my family with CMT I think my mother had this also as she also had high arches (so do I).I have worked since I was 14 up to 1999 and had to go on SSDI. I'm the process of learning sign lanuage as I've read lips all my life, I was told with only 30% hearing I would lose more as I age. Anyway I just want to thank you for this support, it's great to see I'm not alone in this and I'm able to learn more about this disease. god bless u all, Candy
