MDA's $ committment to CMT

A few days ago, someone asked about MDA's committment to $ for CMT. I too

was interested in a current figure, so I contacted Fred Stecker, Special

Asst. to the President of MDA with a few questions. This is the information

he provided:

" The Association's current three year commitment for CMT research is $2

million. Institutions receiveing grants from MDA are restricted to using no

more than 10% of the grant for administrative purposes. For the

Association's patient and community services program, $13.3 million of this

year's budget has been allocated to assist people with CMT. In MDA's 2004

fiscal year (April 1, 2003 to March 31, 2004), our

administrative expenses were 7.2% of the total funds expended. "
