Guest guest
Dear Janet, I feel your pain, I have been there and sometimes am still. I too have struggled with our school for our daughter who is also 13. Don't give up, find out your rights, an IEP is also what she needs to have, there was another post about this. An IEP is " Individual Education Plan " you will let a team know what your daughters diagnoses is and what her special needs are. I would print out what CMT is and have that given to all her teachers, if they can see it in print sometimes this helps. By law, the school has to do whatever it is your daughter needs to get a good education. I didn't say GREAT, just good. Our daughter uses a lap top in her classes because of her hands, the school had to supply this, they can supply a wheelchair for her to get through her days if you want, they have to hire an program assistant if this is what your child needs to get through the day. There are many, many rights you have. If you go in knowing what they are you will be amazed at the way their attitudes change. I will help in anyway possible. Please, document whenever you talk to someone concerning your daughter, the date, time, name of whom you are speaking with, if it was a phone conversation or in person, what the dicussion was about. This is all so important. Jan in Illinois
