Guest guest
Fred, I'll take a shot at this. I can totally understand not being satisfied with your neurologists. You most likely were referred to Cal Pac in San Francisco since that is still within California. If you want to go to Wayne State, you most likely will have to absorb that cost on your own. And yes, Kaiser probably referred you to MDA for your second opinion. Perhaps you should have asked for a referral for a " neurologist in private practice " - MDA is not just for people who can't afford help, but for anyone who wants help with one of the 40+ neuromuscular diseases. And yes, quite possibly Kaiser is referring you to MDA to get out of paying for a 2nd opinion. But, if you already have Kaiser, sometimes they will be billed first. This is a hard call and maybe best done by phoning Kaiser and asking them what the he** is up with this. Ask MDA too. Best to know all before you go - then no surprises. I looked up Dr. - below is some information for you. He is certainly well trained. Maybe call the office phone below and see if he has a private practice, besides being the Director of the MDA clinic there. That may give you another option on your 2nd opinion.
