Guest guest
, welcome to the group! So sorry to hear that your friend is having problems. The first possibility that comes to mind is that Remicade (infliximab) has been associated with neurologic adverse events, including some that resemble multiple sclerosis. From RxList.com on Remicade in the " Warnings " section: " Neurologic Events Infliximab and other agents that inhibit TNF have been associated in rare cases with optic neuritis, seizure and new onset or exacerbation of clinical symptoms and/or radiographic evidence of central nervous system demyelinating disorders, including multiple sclerosis. Prescribers should exercise caution in considering the use of REMICADE in patients with pre-existing or recent onset of central nervous system demyelinating or seizure disorders. " http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic3/infliximab_wcp.htm How long has your friend been on Remicade? Has he ever had any such problems before? Is there any history of MS in his family? It would be nice to know his entire list of meds, too. I'll tell you where to go! Guest guest
Shaking is a by-product of RA I think. I get cold and when I do I just shake and can't get warm. I do know of one gentlemen in my group that had a reaction to his Remicade infusion and he was just shaking and couldn't stop. He now has benedryl shots before his Remicade infusion. I know for me I just feel cold all the time. My body feels warm to touch - my hands and feet are actually hot but I feel chilled. You will usually find me wearing a sweater even when the temperature is 100 degrees outside and I don't feel hot. I used to have cold hands and feet and loved air-conditioning but not since my RA onset. I wish your friend the best of luck but would tell him to bundle up cuz in my case it hasn't got any better. God bless, Althea
Guest guest
Hi Everyone! I have a question. I have tremors during the day in mostly my hands but every once in a while in my legs. But lately when I go to sleep I shake really bad for a couple minutes. I'm asleep when this is happening and I don't wake up until it's done but I'm completely aware of what is happening. Do you know what is wrong? Also I was just diagnosed with Gastroparesis, weakening of the stomach. My whole digestive system is paralyzed in a way. I was wondering if I do in fact have CMT could the CMT effect this or possibly even have caused this? Thanks for listening. le
Guest guest
Hi. My son hasn't ever done that, and is severely apraxic. You may want to consult with a neurologist. Guest guest
Beth- I might make the suggestion that she not only has Apraxia of speech, but that she also has limb Apraxia/ aka Dyspraxia. This is what happens with my son (4) when he has a neuro " dip " and you can see tremors, but it won't happen daily. for instance-- when he contracted Chicken Pox last Oct/Nov he didn't have a bad case of the pox, but it did affect his motor issues and he had tremors on and off for weeks Becky In a message dated 10/30/2008 6:08:25 P.M. Guest guest
Yes, my son also has mild tremor in his hands, especially when reaching sometimes. He has full body dyspraxia, apraxia of speech, Autism, SID, ADHD, and Hirschsprung's Disease. We will see a neurologist in late November and I will ask about it then. Guest guest
don't know if this is anything like what you're seeing but Josh would, on occasion, do a little " shake " or " tremor. " The first time I saw it, it totally freaked me out, thought it was a seizure! ran to the doc and, like with many things, he chuckled. seems Josh doesn't shiver when he's cold, he does the occasional shake. doc said it's really common with kids with sensory issues. also what's common is that kids with issues like these that affect what the doc said was the autonomous nervous system, temperature control in the body is affected. it's gotten better as Josh has gotten older. Guest guest
The temp control is said to be pancreatic. Precursor to diabetes I thought. We have that (temp thing) here. > > don't know if this is anything like what you're seeing but Josh would, on occasion, do a little " shake " or " tremor. Guest guest
I have and 8 yr old apraxic son that also is shakes, you can really see it in his hands. You really notice it when he is using his fine motor skills. He has had small absence seizures in the past. If you are concerned I would have it checked out just to make sure that nothing else is going on.
