Guest guest
Don, I am allowed to take off 8 weeks from work. That should give me sometime to heal. People are quite constiderate at work about things like this (i work in a lab) and will accomodate me, i think. As i said, im still not sure if i am a good candidiate for the surgery. Im going to the Doctor on July 5th to determine that. Could you please tell me what was wrong with your knee before the surgery and how much better you are? -- Farah --- panteradon <panteradon@...> wrote: > You guys have been talking a lot about Carticel > lately. Guest guest
Farah I think two months off would work. I actually tried to go back to work part time but they would not let me. I had a trochlea defect that was 1.5cmx2cm (I think) I don't have the surgery report with me right now. Before the surgery, I could not walk in the grass. I could not go down any incline at all. Steps? No way, especially down. I am just now to the point that I told the doc last week that I am better off now. It took 7.5 months to get here. I can go down small inclines without thinking about it. I can go upstairs, but it still gives me trouble and I have to give a little hop to get past the step on the bad leg. I still can;t go down. The more I walk, the better I feel. The worst part for me is sitteng at my desk too long at work. I get very stiff and sore. Sometimes by the evening, I am in pain, but it is getting better. If I had to do it again? I would, but I would do therapy more like Mark. I would work with a PT on flex and extension. (Remember, extension as important if not more important that flex) I would only do stright leg exercises to build muscle. I do much more strengthening exercises in PT, but I can be in pain afterwards, and I aam not sure about the effectiveness within 9 months or so of the surgery. Let me know if you want more detail on any part of the surgery, time frame afterward, or anything else. Don
Guest guest
Hello everyone, Has anyone had carticel behind the knee cap? If, so are you pain free? How long did it take? I had it done in one knee almost a year ago and still having pain getting ready to have other knee done. I'm only about 50% better than I was. Guest guest
I had patellar ACI, but it's not been 6 months yet. So far, my pain levels are a lot lower, I have good days and bad days, but the bad days are getting fewer and fewer, thank goodness. Did they do a re-alignment (TTT, AMZ, Fulkerson, osteotomy, etc) when they did your ACI? Also, there's a knee bulletin board where people from all over the world share their experiences, with a specific group for ACI. http://www.kneeguru.co.uk/KNEEtalk/index.php Sometimes the board's a bit slow, but we've got several patellas that log on there to chat & share experiences. I haven't posted here in quite a while, but I've had a tremendous amount of pain relief in the last month when I started doing deep water jogging. I had a real fight getting my ROM back, had scar tissue & such, but finally saw several big jumps in that and am now at 132 as of last Thursday. Still another 10 degrees or so until I'm back to my normal, but at least I'm back to " functional " . I've been blogging about my knee at my website (http://www.thefisher.net) if you're interested.
