Hi everyone!

I'm Canaan. I breifly introduced myself then disappeared shortly

before getting my EMG done. I've been reading all the info and it's

been of great help. But I have a question I'm not sure anyone has

touched on.

First a little history. I'm 31, recently diagnosed through the EMG

with CMT, I'll find out this Friday exactly what kind I have. BTW-

EMG= not good. LOL Hurt!

Anyway, I've spent the last 10 years in the tranportation industry

namely a truckdriver. Until recently like a year ago I quit due to

the symptoms I was presenting. It was just too physically demanding

on me and up until I got the CMT Dx I thought I just couldn't handle

it anymore. It was exhausting doing all the walking, climbing

stooping bending, walking LONG distances etc.. I fell a lot and my

gait continued to worsen. Hindsite is everything isn't it?

So now I'm a stay at home Mom and I will be getting my AFOs the 28th of the

month.

My dilema? I can't go back to my career. I can't truckdrive wearing

AFOs and even if I didn't wear them I can't handle the physical

work of walking you name it. My problem is, I made REALLY REALLY

good money doing it. Now never having been unemployed in all of my

life since I was 12 or so, it's rough on me. So I feel I'm inbetween

a rock and a hard place. I can't (I've tried) switching careers, to

work in an office, and no one will hire me. I have no recent

experience in anything other than the transportation industry. So if

it's not that I can't find a job. I'm NOT disabled, yet I'm not

normal. I can walk fine, and if you looked at me you'd think I was

fine, I walk a little funny but that's it.

So how do I go about making ANY money? I'm can't go back to my

career and I can't find a job anywhere else in which I have

experience in. So I'm left in this place where I can't make money

and I'm not sure if and when I do get an interview that if they see

the AFOs they'll ask me if I have a disability. DO I? Heck I don't

even know!!! All these questions and no clear answers..

I though yall might be able to understand. I need help!

I'd like to contribute to the family income, somehow.. someway.

Thanks,

Canaan
