Guest guest
Hi! I am a new member to . I am a 61 yr. old lady with CMT. I have 3 sons and 8 grandchildren and another due in April. I have had CMT for quite a few years now. My two sisters, my son and my Grandson also have it. My Grandson had surgery on his feet last year. My symptoms have worsened in the last 5 years. My legs and feet tend to bother my the most although I am losing the strength in my hands also. The part of this that is the hardest for me is not being able to do the things I'm used to doing for myself and always having to ask for help. My balance is way off kilter. I can't stand still without almost tipping over. I always think of my Mom, (who we know had this too, but never diagnosed) when I get a little down, She would tell me, Look around kiddo, there's alot more people worse off than you, and it makes me feel better. I would like to know if anyone has experienced what I call dancing legs? My neurologist told me there is nothing to do for them but codeine will help some. I really don't like taking that as I feel so groggy the entire next day. If anyone can relate to this, I really would appreciate hearing from you and how you deal with this. I was feeling a little down one night and just thought I would do a search for CMT sites and came across . I was so happy to find this site and to see that I wasn't alone in this battle. When you tell people what you have they always ask, What is that? Now I have new friends I can relate to. Kathy
