Guest guest
Well folks I went to public school as well as the rest of the family. Sure I had trouble in gym class. Could not run worth a darn. Gym class wasn't easy. Play ball the coach said, no way could I run those bases. But I was one heck of a pitch hitter. Climb that rope. No way could I hang onto it. Hoist me up in the tumbling rings. Oh ya told em no, cant do heights. Coach figured that out after they brought me down...they had to use smelling salts. Yep I passed out up there. Swim class. Oh ya. I loved it. No problem once I was in the pool. Best place for me. But I made the tennis team. I tired out easily, but I played. My teachers were understanding. My friends for understanding. Sure it was rough at times, but I made it. I retired from being a school bus driver and I loved it. Didn't want to stop, but had to. Didn't want to take chances with those students. My students (And I might add....were 72 at a time when loaded) didn't learn nasty things on the bus. Theres more to driving than folks think. And if someone was rude or being nasty, I knew about it. And I mean I knew about it. First day of school, they were told If You Got A Problem On This Bus, I wanna know about it. And children will let you know. It was rough at times with not being able to run, jump and all the things kids do especially with adding speech therapy for 11 years of school also. It wasn't easy. We had kids join us at the high school level who were home schooled before joining us. No big deal there. Kids are kids. Sure some were smarter than us, but not that we cared. We were kids being kids. We had kids that joined who came from catholic schools. Wont forget a couple of them either, mouths like sewers some of them had. I worked with a lady who became a bus driver, she did home schooling with her boys. Nice boys and very well rounded. No different from other kids on my bus. Guess what I am trying to say, is home schooled, private school, religious school. Its school and as long as we are happy with their learning process that's what counts. As long as they are able to learn social skills. Two little girls I had once, couldn't even mingle with the other kids, they did not know how. Their mother had them at home for schooling and over protected them. But that is a different story all together. Not does not happen very often. Anyway, educate your children the way you prefer. Make sure they get a good education. They are our future. And best of luck to you all. Elaine
