Guest guest
Heidi, The burning results from damage to the nerves that transmit sensation from the arms, hands, legs and feet to the brain. It's called sensory peripheral neuropathy. If you son is doing any cooking, and wearing oven mitts, he may not be able to feel the real heat intensity of a pan, so that's just something to be aware of. So far I haven't experienced any burning in my hands. I'm not too familiar with burning hands, but perhaps putting a cool lotion on might help, or soaking them in cold water, or using an ice pack or even holding a cold can of Coke for a few minutes. While my feet have continued to burn off and on my whole life, I can pretty much stop it when it starts, either by changing tasks, putting on Biofreeze or simply a cool lotion, taking my shoes OFF and changing shoes, walking on a cooler surface, icepacks, etc. What is wierd is when it happens in aquatics - I don't want to stop, so I keep going with my workout. Once in the shower, my feet are happy on the cold floor LOL but true. Then back in my street shoes and dressed, my feet have already stopped burning. It is, and always has been very intermittent with me, coming and going...one thing though, my feet will burn ferociously if I am standing in one spot for any length of time. In the summer I keep my body lotion in the refrigerator - it just is a great all over soother. Gretchen ---------- Internal Virus Database is out-of-date. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus.
