Guest guest
Welcome Sandy (and son), We have a 15 yrs son who was diagnosed 3yrs ago. It's been a big challange for him. He started wearing leg braces on a more full time basis this past September and has come to realize that they help him in a huge way. He can do some gym, he can walk longer and further without getting as tired as he used to. This past November the doctors at CHOP decided it was time to figure out exactly which type he had and also to test to see how far it has progressed. There where no surprises to speak of, he has the CMT X , he gets it thru myself not my husband. The doctors tested both of us just to get a comparison, not what I was expecting to do, however, I already knew in my heart I had it too. Please encourage your son to learn about CMT, there are lots of ways to deal with the different aspects of CMT. Should he feel he needs to email and " chat " with someone dealing with the same issues, Im sure our son would appreciate that too. We are located just outside Philadelphia. Good luck and welcome to a great group of upbeat people who are here to help you get thru each day. Sincerely
