I found the brace shop sold shoes and could also direct me to special shoe

stores that carried " extra depth " shoes. They are expensive...maybe $180.00, but

sometimes you can find a sale and even be on a mailing list at a particular

store so when they have a sale you'll know it. I also found that if I went to

Wal mart or Payless I could find wide shoes and maybe increase a size which

helped.

I have found that men's gym shoes are wider and if you get a pair that are not

too low cut and with an insole that is loose enough to take out, you can find a

pair of shoes for as low as $10...solid black for dressy and other colors for

everyday!!!

There are also metal braces that attach to the outside of your shoes but then

you don't change shoes often. Those braces don't rub on your feet and ankles like

the plastic AFOs do.

I don't know why some people have this kind rather than the other. I used to try

to wear socks over the braces so they wouldn't show but they wore out rapidly

and my whole foot looked enormous and odd so I began to put the sock on first

then the brace, and I always wore slacks but have seen others even teens, who

wore skirts and just accepted the brace as part of them. I don't know about

liners. What are they?

Good Luck,

Sue
