Hi Dee, Spencerport Continuing Ed. offers it. I have been taking the class for

6 or 7 years now. I haven't lost any weight because of it, but I added an inch

to my height, I learned how to breathe, and I'm WAY more stretchy and flexible

than any of my kids!

your boutique thingy. Might be interested. : )

Maybe you can help me. There was once a time not so long ago that I

was an arobics instuctor here in town and did that to keep in shape

from my teens and twenties as I had always done gymnastics , dance

and cheerleaded right into college. Hurt my back and actually

developed scoliosis and even herniated my lower back lugging my bins

of soap after a show. I have wanted to find a pt around here who

could help me to strengthen my back through some form of excerise

that would not be too invasive on the discs that continually start to

herniate again. Colgate told me they would always be a problem once

you break the mesh between the discs. I admit...I am afraid to do

anything and life is putting lbs on me!!;( Can you or anyone help me

out with some sugestions? I am so envious of all your yoga .Legs are

strong-arms are strong and the old back stinks!!

Ouch, Deb! I feel for you! I suggest that you search around for a Hatha Yoga

teacher. Hatha is very gentle yoga, very focussed on listening to your body and

using mindful breathing. Very relaxing and also very empowering. Over the

years, I have met folks in my class that have had vast improvements in their

health issues such as asthma, back and knee problems, fibromyalgia, arthritis

and so on. The key is in using those muscles and bones that are healthy while

strengthening those that are not. I hope that helps you a bit. I do have some

books around here, I'll look for them later this evening if you like, and post

the ones I have found to be useful.

Thanks -I can no longer bend from the waist as I always have-

especially weight bearing. This makesmy herb gardening a chore. It

begins buldging between the discs all over again and then the siatica

sets in down both legs. Makes my feet feel like they are vibrating

from the pinched nerves. I have a friend who teaches tai chi and yoga

but she has no education in injuries and yells at me to not be afraid-

easy for her to say ;O

I do my stretching excericises to help pull the tissue back in-I

look like a seal on the floor and my kitten thinks she has to help me

rubbing back & forth under me.Any info would be appreciated,

especially back strengthing excercises that wouldn't hurt my

herniation. Three yrs. and I am still battling with it. Probably did

a lot of damage twisting myself like a pretzel in youger years!Live &

learn.

Since I go to the gym every night after work from like 5:00 -

6:30ish, I find that if I dont go, I am bored and wondering around

the house looking for something to do (other then dinner, laundry,

etc). It definately becomes a habit after a while!

That may be one of the most important mental tricks I've learned. All

those little debates you have with yourself about whether you should

workout, whether you should eat the cookie, whether you should put

just a little more on your plate, STOP having them. LOL They usually

don't end well. Do what you know is right and get up the next day and

do it again. Once you achieve " fitness autopilot " your results will be

permanent and not something you struggle to maintain.

LOL ... I just read your How to have a dramatic challenge... and look at

sounds vaguely familiar to the question I just asked. " Be sure to have some

birthday cake

cake?/

Oh, god, I was afraid you were going to ask that. :-) When there's

birthday cake at work, I generally eat it. LOL My activity level is at

a point now where it doesn't seem to matter. In the past, I've had

three methods of dealing with work treats.

1. Throw the whole cake (tin of cookies, plate of brownies, box of

donuts) in the trash. It's funny how if you do that once, people won't

bring their treats anywhere near you in the future.

2. Keep a collection of Ziploc bags with you. When everybody's eating

delicious treats, take whatever you want, seal it up and save it for

your free day.

3. Just say no. " No, thank you. " actually works really well. I've

never had anybody try to pry my mouth open and feed me cake.

My friends at work know I'm a little loony about food. If there are

treats around, they'll usually ask me if I want any or if I'm being

good. No further explanation is necessary. And after a couple of trash

can incidents, they make a point not to leave me tending the

leftovers. They know I'll eat one cookie and chuck the two dozen

others in the dumpster as a safety precaution.

No one pries your mouth open to eat cake! LOL. I see your point though you are

at a point

where you can eat the cake and have no worries. You are where I want to be.

Saying I am

saving it for later is a great idea though. That way i can take it and trash it

and no one will

no. How simplistic really.

Most of the time a paper thin slice of the cake is enough. It isn't

necessary to have a huge diet sabotaging piece. If you really want to

deprive yourself remove the icing and eat only the cake part.

I am a big fan of #2 as well. My company is always feeding us treats for

something. I am notorious for taking " cake to go. " I keep extra ziplocs and

tupperware around to stash treats for Saturdays. This saves me money not having

to buy junk food on free days and usually keeps me from having dangerous

leftovers of free food around on Sundays.

I also have made a point to tell people about Body for Life and my " new "

lifestyle. I even post where I am in each 12-week challenge (Week 6: Day 3)

every day on my white board with a tally of how many lbs I've lost so people ask

me about it. At first, I was private about it. But I realized that I need to do

this for accountability reasons. The more people you share your goals with, the

more likely you are to stay committed to them. One of the main reasons you won't

catch me standing in front of the vending machine or having a piece of cake on a

Friday is for that reason alone.

This conversation is really timely actually...this afternoon we are having our

monthly " social " at work. Two hours of paid time to basically eat and drink your

butt off. We're talking chips and dip, cheese and crackers, guac and chips,

eggrolls, mini-pizzas, pastries, ice cream. Oh, and don't forget the beer and

wine. Anyway, this conversation has really given me the right mindset to head

down there with (along with my zip loc bag). LOL!

I have to chime in on this one..At the hospital where I work, vendors

are always bringing us bagels, donuts, cakes and cookies...after I

started BFL, I made a point to tell one vendor that I'd be throwing a

little business at him if we started seeing something healthy. So, far

we've had a fruit basket, some bran muffins, tons of strawberries and

today, he brought cookies, but they were accompanied by an enormous box

of fresh green grapes. awesome....

THanks for telling that story LInda! It is fun to read but have been there myself and it was fully serious and not fun at all...Take care!|Cecilia From: "Goldstein@..." <Goldstein@...> bird mites Sent: Friday, January 20, 2012 5:24 PM Subject: Re: Re: dox. and lyme testing

When we first got mites I decided I would start to sleep wearing a plastic painter's outfit which covered the entire body except hands and feet. It had a built in hoodie and zipped up the front. Those plastic coveralls are available through the hardware stores here in the paint department. I would put vinyl gloves on and wrap my feet in plastic bags and then take duct tape and seal the opening around the plastic bags and around the vinyl gloves. I wore a pair of swimming goggles to protect my eyes from bites. My face was then covered with Vicks Vaporub to keep mites away from my eyes and nose and that kept the crawling down. That particular summer was a very hot summer and the outfit which looked like an astronaut's outfit didn't breath at all. I got so hot in it at night that a few nights I had to go outside in the middle

of the night and sit in the cooler air to let my body cool down at 2-3 am in the morning. What a sight to see... if anyone had been privy to see me in my astronaut's outfit. The goggles hurt because and I could lay on my side so I had to lay flat on my back all night. This scheme didn't work all that well, and I did use it for a month or so. The plastic painter's suit in the morning was folded up and put in the freezer to kill mites that I had accumulated at night. Little did I know that the freezer does not kill mites. You can just imagine what I looked like...This strategy did not work! Hey, we get desperate. From: "Aggi Assmann" <aggi_assmann@...>bird mites Sent: Friday, January 20, 2012 6:21:14 AMSubject: Re:

Isn't that wonderful that we all seem to get better on the abx ? Wish I had done this a year ago. There comes the day we will be all laughing about these stupid bird mites (cross fingers-:)

I have never thrown anything out, I simply refused to, because almost everything was brand new in our new home when the infestation happened in 2009.

After I started taking anti-fungal and doxy, nothing felt infested anymore, even documents, books, bed and upholstery do just feel normal as they did before.

I can leave the bed sheets on for a week now, it is even ok to wear clothes more than once. All these 'normal' things still seem like a miracle to me and only you guys will understand what I am talking about...

Hi C

Were all of these things purchased outside of the UK? Sorry dear about the costs. I know most or many of us have very limited finances. We were doing better, but now finances are stretched to the limit. Husband and I are doing dental work right now too. So expensive. Everything you are doing will help C. Yes, the big throw out. We took 2 loads of furniture to the dump (over half of what we owned total), so many things got dumped. One wonders if we could have kept the stuff like Aandraya did... but better to not think about it. I wish I could give each of us thousands of dollars to help... or win the lottery and split it.
