Guest guest
Welcome to the group !!! What a great choice you made when you decided to do BFL again.....just jump in with both feet! LOL I dont know what supplements others will suggest, but I use the myoplex lite shakes, EAS Precision Protein, and Betagen.... other than that, its whole foods all the way Looking forward to seeing your progress!! Blessings, ~~ Hi all,This is my first time with your group and I'm enjoyinghearing all the good advice. I've actually done theBFL challenge once before, but didn't dedicate myselfto it like I should have. I didn't takesupplements-just occasionally drank the myoplexshakes. This time I am going to give it 110%, and amtrying to line up everything I need. I was wonderingif anyone has a source for recipes/BFL cookbookpossibly, that keep things interesting-beyond what isoffered on the BFL website? And any must-havesupplements that I should take while doing thechallenge? Thanks in advance!
Guest guest
I would go ahead if you can get him in that way he'll be better prepared for next year......... You might even be able to get them to pay for "summer" services? It's worth a try! Mom4kody From: Anne [mailto:Lady_Anne76@...] Sent: Thursday, February 03, 2005 5:01 PMttyreeSubject: Looking for advice I need advice about Cameron. Most of you know the school illegally kept him out of PPCD this year. I have a psychologist working with me now who is encouraging me to get him in PPCD now that the speech therapist agrees he should be in there. My thought is, school is going to be out in 3 1/2 months. Is it a good idea to move Cameron from daycare to PPCD, which is also the Pre-K class, or should I just leave him where he is and wait until he can go to Pre-K this August. On one hand, I think the structure would be better for him, but it's such a short amount of time until summer, and he would be back at daycare, and then in August, go back to school with probably a new teacher and a different routine. What would you guys do? I'm torn. I already feel like I'm making all the wrong decisions. Anne
Guest guest
Anne, How well does he take to transitions? Would it take him most of this time just to settle in to the new environment, just to then be taken back out of it? On the other hand, would it make it easier for him to transition back into it in the fall? If he is impossible with transitions, I would leave him where he is. If it is more of an anxiety thing, I would definitely have him spend some time there this spring (perhaps time divided between the two) in order to make next year a more successful experience. My son (now in 8th grade) needed to have some time at the middle school prior to starting the 7th grade, so that he could learn about the transitions, where his classes were going to be, where he could find his counselor, where the bathrooms/lunchroom/exits all were, etc. He was so anxious about the transition, but due to having met all his teachers several times prior to the beginning of the year and knowing how to go from class to class, he was able to settle in much quicker in the fall… Yet, if he couldn’t handle going early due to it not being the “normal routine”, I wouldn’t have pushed it!!! You know your child better than anyone, and only you can say how well he would do with either scenario!!! ~hugs~ Rabecca -----Original Message----- From: Anne [mailto:Lady_Anne76@...] Sent: Thursday, February 03, 2005 1:48 PM AA Group Subject: Looking for advice I need advice about Cameron. Guest guest
Hi ! My only question is why you are not doing the BFL sets such as 12, 10, 8, 6, no rest 12, and then 12 of another exercise for same body part? I do think that this and intesitity is the key to why BFL delivers the results that it does. I don't think what you are doing is wrong it is a standard training to do three sets for one body part I just wondered why you are not doing it the BFL way? I know what you mean about eating so much better then you used to but not the best. That is me all the way I am SOOOO much better but never get to the level of BFL good you know Keep up the good work! Michele T. Guest guest
Well, I guess I am easing myself into this. I haven't worked out for a very long time and am really overweight. I don't want to go all out and burn myself out before I can get through a challenge and build some success. Does this make sense? I have stepped it up and am doing cardio (HIIT) daily and lower body one day with upper body the next day. Maybe in couple of weeks I will be confident enough to go all out and " do it by the book " Thanks for the suggestions and for listening to a " newbie "
Guest guest
Hi , Sorry to hear about your daughter's roommate trouble. I am 44 now and college seems a long time ago, but I had some anxiety and panic attacks back then, and I also had some pretty bad roommates at times. If I were in your position, I would move her out in a heartbeat. I wouldn't be concerned about the Residence Hall people and their, " Let's all just get along and work it out " attititude. This isn't kindergarten! I'm sure they have their own agenda for keeping people in certain rooms and not wanting to move people around mid-semester, but the purpose of college is not to be able to get along with just anyone you get thrown together with by chance. It's to get a degree and get a good job, and I'm sure you or your daughter is paying a small fortune for this education. Any stress that detracts from it, is just a waste of time, if you ask me. Some people mesh well, and some people don't. I wouldn't feel bad about it, just insist they move her and let her get on with her studies without the added stress. You might have to go over the head of the Residence Hall Assistant and their boss to get her moved, but people drop out of college ALL the time. There will be a room opening up soon, and you should insist that your daughter be given priority for it. (I'm feeling such PMS tonight, I should make the call for you! haha They wouldn't dare tell me, " no " ! LOL) jpfolkert@... wrote: Dd, 18, OCD, being tested for ADD, is at a college away from home. My frustration with this is that her psych. has recommended she go into a private room and if this is not possible then a room with one roomate. Guest guest
Hi all, I am pretty new to the group and I was wondering if anyone who has been on the gluten and casein free diet experienced no change. My son who is 17 has been on the diet for approximately 1 month and we really haven't discovered much change. I was just curious if anyone else has come across this or not. It totally made sense to me and what you eat is who you are so we were very excited about trying it out. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch,
Guest guest
Even though my son is 4 and we're seeing a change, I have been told (And you may want to check with UR Dr. about this) that it can take anywhere from 48 hrs. up to 6 weeks to see a difference. Also, on the GFCFkids group a few of them have been talking about how it seems to take older kids longer to see a change in the diet. Guest guest
I am new too, and my 15 yo son has been on the GFCF diet since May07, so far no difference. In fact, we have not seen any difference with any of the supplements we've tried (about 90 differrent kinds so far). I would also love to hear any help or advice from people with similar experience. Thanks very much. r weinsteint wrote: > > Hi all, > > I am pretty new to the group and I was wondering if anyone who has > been on the gluten and casein free diet experienced no change. Guest guest
Thanks r for your comment. We are sticking to it, but have deviated a bit to see if he feels any differently. I appreciate your comment as I was wondering. You hear so many good things about the diet but not too many things if it did not work as planned. I am up for trying anything to help his concentration at school and also to help him feel more social. I do have to say as he has matured and been in several social skills groups, therapy, etc. we have noticed subtle changes. He tries so hard and that is all we can do. We are currently looking at colleges and it will be interesting to see how that goes. So far University of Arizona looks very promising as they have a huge organization for kids with learning disabilities, etc. Blessings to all..... Guest guest
Hi ,Thanks so much for your response. I am new to this group things since I am not totally computer savvy. I did not even know about a GFCF kids group. I think my son and I would love that. I was wondering about feeling the difference later as he is 5'10 and weighs probably 140. Guest guest
Entech is as good as any American 3rd party provider, and better than many. You get good training and never have to worry if your check will clear. I've known a few who have gotten a start there, and know one of their managers from working with him at another company. Pretty good guy. They do a good bit of H2S specialty work, which is a good niche. Overall not a bad place for a newbie remote medic to get a start, but like all American companies, you can't expect to get rich. Guest guest
For someone new to the industry, you can hook up with any of the " major " third service companies to get a job. Entech, Acadian, etc, doesn't really matter. You aren't going to get rich, but you have almost no room to negotiate until you can say you have " offshore experience. " Regarding Entech specifically. I've spoken to their medical services manager numerous times (I am going to be temporarily covering one of their medics for around a month) and he has been nothing but aboveboard. They have jobs, so it's worth a call. One thing Donn is right about ... you aren't going to get rich. Guest guest
We are having the same problem with our 4 yr old son. Everyone agrees he is on the spectrum but wont give the diagnosis so we can get the help we need for him Looking for advice I am mother to surviving triplet boys both of which show signs of Autism. They just turned 3. No one will diagnosis them because they are both severely delayed one being about 7 months and the other 6 months developmentally. This is their average. One likes to do repetitive movements, shows obsessive behavior (pushing same key on toy over and over again), stemming, and I am sure some others I can;t think of. His Dr does think he has it and mentioned getting a diagnosis. His brother had a grade III and IV brain bleed but also has changed. He no longer enjoys the bath, won't eat food anymore, doesn't like change in routine (found this out my accident), licks toys, bangs head or bites hand when mad, loves lights, gets upset easily, and some other things. He actually received ABA therapy for about 7 months and it ended when he turned 3 and I have noticed a big difference. So the question is did anyone get a diagnosis of Autism with a severe delay? I just found out that C can't get anymore ABA without a diagnosis which everyone refuses to give they are so sure his behavior is due to severe delay. Their regional worker said to appeal the denial. I am so afraid that they are wrong and that they do have autism with a severe developmental delay. I am so frustrated.

Guest guest
hi - i am looking for advice from some knowledgeable people if what i am doing is going to help me get through this. there is a lot of conflicting info out there and i would really appreciate some experienced advice! - i wash my clothes in 1c bleach, 1c borax, and detergent (also, sometimes add the Dr Bronners peppermint soap). I use the hottest water that i can get in the machine and let soak for at least 4hrs but usually overnight. Then dry 2x 60mins. Clothes then go into plastic bags or plastic tote boxes. Is this sufficient. Also, when storing the clean clothes, what can i use as a deterent - bounce sheets, menthol crystals, etc. -I vacuum every second day. I wash the floors every second day ( i would idelly like to do it everyday, but with work - it is not always possible). i use bleach and borax or lysol and borax. Am i helping - what else can i do. I have pets - so i am leary of using the DE or other things - can i use borax and baking soda and salt as a powder on floor and furniture. In isolated rooms and basement, would borax and sevin be good -i treated my cats with injectable ivermectin - are they safe now -for papers or books that i could not throw away (ie:income tax, etc) - i put them in plastic totes and have them in storage. I put mothballs in the area, but can i put something in the boxes, like menthol crystals. And how long would i keep them there - is 6 months safe -i get the needle sensation a little less on my body, but the worst is my feet. I wear croc shoes everywhere not to spread it. Is there something that really works for feet. For my body, successful things were bleach or sulfur baths lessen the feelings. not successful - baby oil, salt, dawn, or alcohol. luckily, i am the only one in the house affected - my parents say they are fine. So, i would like to nip this in the bud if possible. i am sorry for all the questions, but i am hoping that i can get some direction to avoid making common mistakes. Guest guest
Hi I wash with Arm & Hammer Powdered Laundry Detergent not the liquid type it is diffrent ingredients contains no sodium carbonate . I soak in 1 cup Arm & Hammer Powdered Laundry Detergent in the nath tub for 30 mins wash clothes in it too, 1 cup . I wash everything in it 1 cup per gallon of hot water & stir the water as I add it for 15 seconds . My papers I load into car, place 1 rented 20lb co2 tank , open valve close & lock doors for 8 hrs Ps: 1st I start car with heat on recirculate , then shut car off with the recircutlte button on recircutlate to make sure the gas dosnt leat out the heat vent to the out side . Cost is ($5.00per month ,+ $12.78 to fill once at any welding shop ) It works miracles on papers . Eggs still live so I powder papers with baking soda. Co2 kills all life forms when concentrated , I do not breathe any of it I treat it like a bug bomb & stay away while gassing & don't take any test sniffs to see if it is deadly or not , it is deadly. & causes brain damage & kidney failure when inhaled above 10% concentration. . I air out the car well for 2-4 hrs before driving , the gas sinks & is heavier than air so it settles in low spots & stays in file boxes , I blow it out wth a leave blower or a vacumm cleaner while I hold my breath very well. . I put a vacum nest to car as I do all this to make it look like I am detailing the car interior as I leave all door open on the car to air it out for 2-4 hrs . I hever tell anyone about bugs , they are not bothered . so they can't understand , they get upset if I talk about it so I don't burden them with the details . For feet I wear cowboy boots or work boot always . I use 1/2 cup of dry Arm & Hammer Powdered Laundry Detergent in each boot & shake around & dump out into the tub with water in it , to kill bugs in the boots , it is a miracle , no bugs in boots after thet . I cannot breathe the dry a & h soap powder it causes huge problems ( per msds ) I hold my breath while using the powder in my shoes a. Acute Health Effects of sodium carbonates ( a & h's main ingredient ) : From MSDS Inhalation: Breathing dusts can cause severe irritation, delayed pulmonary edema, and nasal septum deviation. Skin Contact: Not a primary skin irritant. If my feet are bit up . I soak my feet in 1/3 cu p of borax & 5 cups of water in rubber boots after every shower for 30 mins This mix stops itches & burning in 5 mins The mix: 2 tblspns borax (20 mule team Borax laundry booster 16 oz peroxide (3%) 32 oz water. mix it , and the borax nuetralizes the peroxide, it is painless & the is no fizz or burning from this mix & it is cheap If they are deep ones I use 8tblspns borax (20 mule team Borax laundry booster 8 oz peroxide (3%) 8 oz water. For privates betadine applied & left for 5 mins ends all bugs forever ,unless I sit on another one. Betadine is painless rinse well after 5 mins , works for eyes to , I close my eyes wet eye area , apply about 1/2 teasp of betadines , I wait 5 mins with eyes closed well & rinse well & it cures them too. For the face a rag of 1 tbls borax & 1 gallon of waer held on the face wet for 20 mins ends the on the face , I do it daily for 1-2 weeks while I am in shower or while I take a bath as needed . For hair 1 teasp borax in 28 ox of water & spray it deep into hair after a shampoo & leave it , it is invisible & kills scalp bugs fast , usaually takes 3 days of treatment , depending on level of buggyness, Kill it it is a bug , it will die God bless you , Bill --------------------r----------On Sun, Feb 26, 2012 1:38 AM EST well453 wrote:>hi - i am looking for advice from some knowledgeable people if what i am doing is going to help me get through this. there is a lot of conflicting info out there and i would really appreciate some experienced advice!>>- i wash my clothes in 1c bleach, 1c borax, and detergent (also, sometimes add the Dr Bronners peppermint soap). Guest guest
commented on suspecting Demodex mites on the scalp. Here is a link for Demodex shampoo. I do not know if it works but may be worth trying. http://skinimprovements.com/shampoo-demodex.html From: Cecilia Borg <ceciliaborg@...>"bird mites " <bird mites > Sent: Friday, March 2, 2012 11:22 AMSubject: Re: Re: looking for advice Hi!|Try a sulfur schampo. Guest guest
I used Nizoral antifungal shampoo and fully dried my hair after shower.Aa On Mar 1, 2012, at 7:05 PM, Goldstein@... wrote: ,What worked for me to get this movement out of my hair was the following: (others have used things that worked too)1. Get yourself a little plastic bottle used for dying hair at a beauty supply store (the finer the tip the better and there are some which are very tiny).2. Go to the health food store and purchase the following essential oils: tea tree oil, eucalyptus oil, and oregano oil. All are highly smelly. These oils penetrate the scalp into the skin.3. Put in the plastic squeeze bottle one part tea tree oil, one part eucalyptus oil and 1/8 - 1/4 part oregano oil (it is the strongest, so just a tiny bit needed) so use less of it.4. After you have showered or bathed and the hair has only been towel dried start parting the hair with the tip of the tinting bottle and then start squeezing a few drops onto the scalp. Start massaging that into the scalp. Apply this everywhere on the head, but not near the eyes. I carefully put some on my eyebrows and that was even a mistake.5. This is rather involved, but I've found for me it works. I did this maybe 10 times and I have had no movement in my hair or scalp for at least a year or more. This kills whatever it is that is crawling on the scalp. I suspect Demodex mites in the scalp. Kills them permanently. This is pretty stinky so be ready for that. If you are not around people much it helps, and if you are around people maybe stay a distance away. I know my husband did not like this smell.
