Pune, May 29: Clinical trail on humans of a vaccine that could avert contracting AIDS disease could begin by year end, according to the National AIDS Research Institute (NARI) OF Pune. “Work on development of an experimental vaccine which could prevent a person succumbing from AIDS is in full swing and probably by year-end the clinical trail on humans would commence”’ Dr. Ramesh Pranjape, office-in-charge, told PTI. “Test on one animal is complete and we will soon start experimenting doses of the vaccine on rabbits”, he said. Pranjape said NARI is awaiting clearance from regulatory authorities for further trails. “The vaccine is being developed for those who are not affected by AIDS but to prevent them from contracting the deadly disease,” Pranjape said. NARI, along with other three organizations-National AIDS Control Organisation, Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) and International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI) are currently working on developing a Modified Vaccine Ankara (MVA) for specific subtype C strain, he said. The new vaccine akin to Recombinant adeno-associate Virus (AVV). Adeno 5 and Seniliki Forest Virus (SFV) was being developed in accordance with recommendations made by President A. P. J.
