Guest guest
Dear Jessie, Hi, I'm Melinda Wallace. Jessie I just want to let you know about a website I found. Look up E. Van Winkle or Toxic Mind under " Type Search words, Keywords " and you will probably find this site. Edora Van Winkle is a retired neuroscientist. She explains that the synapses in the nerve cells synapses can become blocked so that the neurotransmitter, serotonin (also norephinephrine) cannot bind efficiently. Her suggestions have been very helpful. Good Luck
Guest guest
HI Jessie: Many docs who are experts on OCD, do not believe that purely obsessional (pure " O " ) OCD really exists. IF you look closely enough you will see responses/rituals such as avoidance and mental rituals happening. You are right about the checking. Also confessing obsessions can be another compulsion. Asking for reassurance that she does not have cancer/heart condition/etc. is another compulsion she might have. As long as checking only happens once, not over and over again, it should not interfere with her life. With OCD unfortunately often they do not feel sure enough after checking so they have to check again. THe treatment is to learn to live with uncertainty. Good luck, take care, aloha, Kathy (h) kathyh@... At 02:52 AM 01/22/2001 -0500, you wrote: >I want to thank all who responded to my intro. I talked about my daughter's >obsessions. Guest guest
They can't retain him if his scores are off the chart and he is doing well academically. You FIGHT THAT! If you look at the qualifications for ED labels and etc. your child must be having trouble academically. That is what we found out when we were fighting for my son over whether he should be labeled under an IEP. Which is why the school lost when the state intervened because my son wasn't having trouble in that area. They decided then a 504 was more appropriate because it handled behavior issues more than academic issues. 504 is great to help the student who has trouble with minor classroom problems such as they need to sit close to the board or just need a little help in the classroom to function. I graduated with a MS in education and I took a course on special education and you wouldn't believe how much it changes over the years. My sister just graduated with her MS in Special Education so it helps to have a family member who can inform you of your rights. If you have any trouble with your meeting let me know and I can ask her for advice for you. If you can hire an child advocate to help you in your meeting and help you set up a plan that will best help your child, I totally recommend it! I don't know your school but some schools are GREAT at helping you and others only care what will help THEM. What is the reason they are thinking of retaining him? I am curious. I forgot, what grade is he in?
Guest guest
Kathy, One more thing.. they can modify your sons academic load and his homework assignments can be extended so he could turn them in late under a 504 also.

It is about 5:00am here in Alabama and I have to begin preparing for my appointment now. Hope to sleep two hours, not enough i know, but will nap later. Thanks again. May God bless you all with His healing and richest blessings. Nytol g_mrrsn/Gator When my tummy is ill from abx, I use 1 TBS Slippery Elm powder Mix 1 tsp of L-Glutamine Powder W/ a glass of distilled water.Shake and drink immediately.
