NATIONAL SEMINAR ON HEALTH CARE PROBLEMS- LAW AND ETHICS

(NASHLE-2004)

School of Legal Studies, Kannur University, Thalassery Campus

Palayad, Thalassery, Kerala

THE SCHOOL

The Law Department of Kannur University, School of Legal Studies, is

one of the leading schools of law in India providing a Post Graduate

Degree in Health care Laws.

BACKGROUND

In its true sense life means more than animal existence. It is

living a healthy life, physically and mentally. Very often the

policies, decisions and activities of the state, the faceless

corporate giants, the health care professionals, the law enforcement

authorities etc. go against this fundamental right. The victims

search in darkness to find out a legal remedy. The provisions of law

fail miserably in providing justice to them.

Biotechnology and Genetic engineering has become the new mantra of

money squeezing corporates. Their lobbying makes them a parallel

state. State's law always lags behind their technology. The modern

developments in cloning, organ transplantation, artificial

insemination etc. raises many ethical and legal issues.

Being duty bound the School of Legal Studies wishes to make a

beginning and contribute in the development of Health Care Laws.

OBJECTIVES

The national seminar aims to address these problems and suggest the

necessary reforms in India and globally through Paper Presentations,

Discussions and Dialogues, which are thematic, comparative and

interactive. Reputed Academicians, Biotechnologists, Health Care
