Guest guest
Charlene & All I did this as well before setting up my clients' e-commerce solutions. Unless you want to give a commission of a high percentage to a merchant credit card co., or absolutely have to have an online merchant account, why not do it manually? Get a credit card terminal like a retail store, hotel, etc. uses. Since we already had this, it made it even easier. We set up a secure server hosting company with www.Catalog.com as they were not full of b.s. saying that they would help BEFORE you pay for a new account. They really DO help you over the phone or email. This is what you need to set up your shopping cart. As I am a webdesigner, I didn't care if it was for beginner's or for web professionals. Turned out that setting up a shopping cart was a breeze even for beginners who are not webdesigners. When people buy from my or my client's sites, they make their purchases by entering their credit card info on our secure website and submit it. I get an email that tells me that a purchase has been made, then I go to catalog.com, log in, pick up the credit card info and manually key it into our credit card terminal. I only pay the regular bank fees and have no wait to collect the funds. It gets deposited into our business account. Many people don't think of doing it this way, but it is great! My partner sells over $3000/week online using this method in videotape products and there's never any complaints! Guest guest
Some people use Esty.com E-Commerce I am trying to find some additional places to sell our products online besides our website. Does anyone know of anything good? I checked out amazon and ebay etc. but I was wondering what else was out there. ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. Guest guest
Have you considered some of the conglomerate online " malls " .. They are sites which feature multiple vendors under one " roof " , and there is usually no listing fees or the like, perhaps only a small commission or small monthly fee (10%, $10/mo, you get the idea) to cover maintenance and advertising costs. The bonus to these is increased exposure (multiple vendors means multiple advertising) and ease of use to the customer, as well as it draws even more people in because it features a wide variety of products, so they can get much shopping done at once, off one site. I myself run one of these sites (although due to shipping concerns and related issues, I only deal with local vendors) and I have seen many out there. I would think thee must be one in your local area that could help you. The trick for you, as a vendor, is.. if you wish to achieve optimal success, choose a " mall " that sells products that complement your own, but do not overlap. I know it is my business practice to not accept two vendors of the same product. I have ONE scrapbooking, ONE vendor for each type of candle (gel, paraffin, soy, etc..), ONE soap maker, ONE jewellery maker, and so on and no forth, so that my own vendors are not competing against each other, but rather part of a team. Just a thought, but I know it's working well for us here in Ontario ... so well in fact, I am currently revamping the site to allow for more bandwidth and whatnot, as it grew faster than any of us expected! If you are interested in this avenue of retail, contact me and I can give you some advice as to how to choose the best online mall for your needs, as many seem to be in it to make a profit, and not to genuinely help the vendors prosper. (I would always suggest if you sign on with a conglomerate online mall, to do so with one run BY a crafter, as they best know what its truly like to be in your shoes and will be most sympathetic and knowledgeable to your needs and limitations) From: thomfleming.skincare Sent: Tuesday, April 15, 2008 8:23 PM Subject: E-Commerce I am trying to find some additional places to sell our products online besides our website. Guest guest
Etsy.com is sort of like eBay but specifically for handmade products. > > I am trying to find some additional places to sell our products online > besides our website.
