Guest guest
Good question, miteymaid! The purpose of a knockdown is not to kill but to keep us from being bitten while we spray. So anything that will prevent that will work. Pinesol works for two reasons: its strong smell masks our human scent, and they don't like the smell, so it serves as a repellent. Because it is so strong, and because we are dealing with micro-organisms, I use no more than a teaspoon of Pinesol or 3 or 4 drops of LimeAway if that is what I have on hand instead. And even though that doesn't sound like much, remember we are dealing with little tiny olfactory nerves, so something very mild to us may seem very strong to them. There is no need to be heavy-handed in this case, because we have to live in the environment too.Life Cycle Treatments: Anything that works on life cycles, including my room spray (external) and evening primrose oil (internal), takes time to kick in. So, the first time I used my room spray recipe, it was 8 weeks before I noticed any difference. Since that first time, even if I go more than 6 months between sprays, it only takes a couple of days to kick back in. The first time I took evening primrose, it took three weeks to see a benefit but I stuck with it because I knew it was supposed to eliminate my night sweats, and I had no other alternative but to keep taking it and see. Now, if I run out and it gets out of my system, I only need take it for a day or two to regain the benefits. Why Spray Your Own House?1. Cheaper (no labor, plus spray only twice a year vs monthly)2. More effective (doesn't drive crtters into hiding, does meet them where they are and destroy life cycle)3. Less toxic (depends on knockdown chosen); no pesticidesBONUS NOTE: If you use an herbal insect repellent on your body or in your home, try adding in a very strong sweet perfume oil like Opium. Not only does it seem to hide the insect repellent odor, I also actually have people say "What smells so good?" I tried other categories of fragrances, many of them. The only thing I had luck with were strong sweet ones. Safari is another one. It has to be strong, though. I'm sure there is at least one newer and trendier fragrance that would work too. kajay From: miteymaid <miteymaid@...> bird mites Sent: Saturday, April 14, 2012 11:00 PM Subject: Re: New to this group, and I hope you can help me Dr. Bock is in Pa. so that's too far but thank you for all the info. I have to work also on getting them out of my environment. They're starting to bite a lot now the heat is off and now I may have a few options to work with. Have to spray again although I don't like using pesticide. Kajay, how much Pinesol did you mix with the Igr? Thanks Marie, saw that you tube film of the Dr. Phil show. Thought he presented a powerful rebuttal to that doctor from Hopkins, wish he had that extra piece on the healthcare politics on the show also but did see it on you tube. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hello all, I know, after reading many of the posts here, > > that > > > > many of > > > > > > > you are suffering terribly from multiple diseases, perhaps > > > > caused by > > > > > > > bird mites, perhaps not.
