Guest guest
Deb, I would say Jojoba AND Sweet Almond would make a great lotion bar combined with the others. My lotion bar is avocado, jojoba, almond, shea and beeswax. I love it but I think what makes it so great is the Jojoba. I made a cream with Jojoba as my oil and loved it and my favorite soap recipe includes Jojoba. I guess what I should say is that, if you had to choose one oil, I would choose Jojoba. HTH! :-) Katy lotion bar > I am trying to make an acceptable lotion bar recipe, but I need some opinions. > > Does sweet almond oil or jojoba oil absorb better? I will be using cocoa butter, shea butter, beeswax. Maybe olive oil absorbs better....??? > > I will be using a roll up tube, so I want a soft enough bar that will eaze on the skin and absorb right away, but obviously I can't have it toooo soft :-o > > I'd appreciate any input --- > > Thanks! > deb

Guest guest
I made my first lotion bar.It turned out a little greasy (i used Jojoba oil & Sunflower oil) and i used TOO much colorant that it colors my skin!ahahahahahaha! I am in a tropical country so I think next time I will add more beeswax bec it is soft. I used a fragrance oil that smells like a shampoo..hay, what a disaster! But I am not giving ip...I will try it again... -If i use Fragrance Oil and colorant, can i still put on label that it's ingredients is still 100%natural? -I read somewhere that Honey is a water base soluble and it will not mix in oil..is that true?I also want to put some honey in my lotion bar. The beauty of lotion bars is if they're not right you can melt them down again and add more stuff! Guest guest
I had the same problem with my first lotion bar..I eased up on my beeswax and the 2nd bar just glides like butter..the first 1 was hard as a rock and nobody wants a product to " drag " on their skin...practice makes perfect..you'll get it right..I actually melted my 1st bar back down and added more oils to it to get it perfect..so then I had 2 wonderful lotion bars Good Luck!
