Guest guest
My husband and I labored for 5 hours wrapping my queen size mattress & box spring in 3 layers of plastic dropcloth. It was one continuous roll wide enough to completely cover and wrap over the edges. We sealed each layer completely, inch by inch, with clear package tape. A massive job!! Before we wrapped, I vacummed thououghly, if that is possible with whatever these things are and we sprayed with a spray that is all inclusive for bedbugs and a whole host of other things. Cautiously I went to bed. Within a few minutes things were crawling on me. It's horrible to be afraid to go to bed. I got up, bathed in Epsom Salts again and went to the sofa bed. They got me there so I got up and bathed in Epsom Salts again by then it was 5Am. If only I could have a few hours of sleep!!!!!! I went out to my van and slept fitfully for a couple of hours and they got me there, too. These things can't be everywhere - they are coming from my body!!!!! They have to be!! Guest guest
Yes, they're in you. I had this experience. I remember I wanted to go to sleep in the park because at home they would just not leave me alone. They also began to infest the places I visited the most. I could see them jumping out of me into other people's homes, furniture, etc. I used to babysit a kid a few blocks away. Well, that place became the biggest nightmare to the point I had to stop going. The minute I walked into that house, I was ambushed by hundreds of invisible pricks. I never returned to that home again. Even my place was safer at that point because I had everything in plastic containers (everything, clothes, belongings, etc), I cleaned my bedroom literally all day long with Orange plus, Dr Bronners Sal suds, white distilled vinegar, murphy's oil, 99 grade alcohol, etc. That kept it relatively safe, but that other house I could not clean, so they were EVERYWHERE. You will have to start decluttering your home, putting things in plastic containers and getting rid of every possible hiding place. They will infest every inch of your home, so putting things away will help a lot in bringing the numbers down and giving you a better opportunity to sleep. Earth Friendly Orange Plus along with white distilled vinegar and 's Oil did a great job at killing this stuff. 99% alcohol helps a lot too. Spray your bed with alcohol before going to sleep (and vinegar helps too). I got to the point of first mopping with the vinegar/orange plus and THEN adding canola oil to my floors, because after the vinegar dried they started to crawl out of other holes. The canola oil stopped them as well, though I guess it can be messy. I was that desperate. All the best, Jess On 4/27/2012 9:52 PM, birdluvr4evr wrote: My husband and I labored for 5 hours wrapping my queen size mattress & box spring in 3 layers of plastic dropcloth. Guest guest
I believe, as many here seem to, that it is the body that must get healthy in order to become hostile territory for whatever is annoying you. I understand totally. Sometimes I would be so tired that I could literally fall asleep standing up. But as soon as my body stopped moving, they got me. I seriously contemplated pitching a tent in the yard and sleeping outside. It seemed to me that they did not like the cold too much. But, I am sure that all I would do is pick them up inside the tent. They just seemed to always be on me. It is a terrible feeling to think that the simple act of sleeping would be denied to me. It was hard to not panic over that idea. Terry > > My husband and I labored for 5 hours wrapping my queen size mattress & box spring in 3 layers of plastic dropcloth. Guest guest
When one is sleep deprived and so exhausted, the sound of all this work is so hard. I truly recommend you leave for a couple of days and then come back and tackle it, if you can. I found out that when I went back to work on my home for just a few hours may have spelled doom for my hotel stay. Now, even here I am starting to get attacked. I am being relentless though that things don't get out of control. I am hoping that it is just a flare up from having been at my house for a few hours and bringing stuff home. I need to be more cautious. ly, until my house is treated top to bottom, I think I just need to avoid it. But after working yesterday and then having to shower a number of times and being plagued before I could fall asleep, I couldn't get up to go and do any work. My handyman happened to have another job to go work at so I was able to sleep in and postpone my next work day to Monday. But I think I will just direct from afar this time. Anyway you can do it, you must find a way to get some rest. That is the number one most important thing to do. Guest guest
I agree bird. I think they may be internal. I used to get them up the rectum... most of us here have had that. Now how could a bird mite crawl that fast up and into... I just can't see that happening. So it is great that you did what you did as a precaution and you might want to put double sided tape around the bed like Zoe did too (we used fly paper, but too hard to use). Start internals. I am so sorry for you dear. From: "birdluvr4evr" <no_reply >bird mites Sent: Friday, April 27, 2012 7:52:07 PMSubject: Wrapped mattress & box spring in plasticMy husband and I labored for 5 hours wrapping my queen size mattress & box spring in 3 layers of plastic dropcloth. Guest guest
I would have chosen a heavy guage plastic drop cloth but my husband already had the drop cloth that we used. It is very thin and too delicate to suit me. I just know they can work through it. How would you use double sided tape? Sharon > > I agree bird. I think they may be internal. Guest guest
Ditto for me on the " back door " thing! YUK!!! And by internals I am thinking you mean antibiotics and anti-fungals? I received all my " goodies " in the mail: Nu-Trac, Vas-Q-Lar Clear, MMS Professional Formula, Bag Balm and Flowers of Sulfur....sigh...now I have to go back and re-read posts as to how to use and what it is for. My memory is a minute long and if I don't immediately get something that I think will help, I just forget it. I also got Vibactra, but I think that is for my doggies. Terry > > I agree bird. Guest guest
Sharon, When I was at that stage of this problem, I used Roach Proof (boric acid and DE mixed...found at Ace). I sprinkled it on the blowup mattress and in the pillow case before inserting my pillow. They would bother me, but then soon die and within 30 minutes of bedtime leave me alone. I would find dead "stuff" and bugs on the mattress and sheets in the morning. A sticky roller helped remove them. Guest guest
, did you leave the Roach Proof on your bed when you went to sleep? I understand that Boric Acid can be toxic if you breath it in. If it's on your bed you're likely to breath it in... How did you do this? I also used Boric Acid and it was what finally killed all the mites, but I only sprinkled it over my floors. Since the critters traveled through the floor, they would die before they got to my bed.
