Guest guest
Hi Bonnie, With everyone being different, it's hard to say. But if you've gained that much weight, I'd say you're doing something you shouldn't be, or not doing something you should be. Clear as mud now, isn't it? LOL I wouldn't start believing that if you go back to induction way of eating that you'll have to stay on it the rest of your life tho. My guess, and that's ALL it is, is that you may have just jumped into a new way of eating {including the fruit and whatnot} and your body just isn't used to it, so it's holding onto the sugar, which we know does turn to fat. Had to throw that in...LOL I'm curious how much water you're drinking? Could that be a reason? Not drinking enough? Personally, for me, I include ALL my fluid as my fluid intake. I know on Adkins, that's not the way, tho It's just a thought. Sweetie, I wish I was closer {I wish we were ALL closer!} so we could help each other, other than trying to figure it out on here. Love ya, Kiki
Guest guest
C, that's a great suggestion! I know that's what I'll do when I just can't do without the carbs. It's also they way most eat in Europe. I've never done it for long, but know people are very successful on it. And they get the things they love like fruit. I've never read the book you mentioned, I've gotten most of mine from The Suzanne Somers books. Love and Blesings, Kiki

Guest guest
HI Bonnie, Have you ever tried food combining? I tried the low carb, no carb, WW and everything in between and the only thing that works for me is the proper way to combine foods. I think Rashelle eats this way also. You basically eat carbs (good ones) and proteins but you just don't mix the two. In other words if you want a cheeseburger, eat the meat and cheese with all the vegies at lunch and the bun and vegies at night, etc. You also will never have indegestion this way. I know one diet doesn't fit all but this is really not a diet, but a way of eating. The best info I have read on the subject is Fit for Life by Harvey Diamond. Love, C Hi All, Everyone seems to be doing so well! And I'm not... I think I've gained about 50 pounds in the last week (well, probably more like 4-5 pounds) -- my clothes are snug around my waist, and I hate it! I'm not sure I can stick this NT way of eating out! Though I think that first I'm going to try basic low-carbing with NT -- eliminating the apples and bread : ( I think I'll try one more day (based on an apple I still have in my refrigerator!!! LOL), then go back to the low-carbing. It really worries me, though, that I'll have to stay at induction level low-carbing for the rest of my life. Maybe I ought to try this another week and just see if I bloat up any more... I imagine that my weight gain is carb-bloating. Maybe your body adjusts and gets rid to it? I think it's ALL in my belly! Anyone have any ideas? I'm continuing with my LL exercises -- and had a really good (lots of steep hills) walk this lunch -- the weather is finally co-operating (when it gets too hot, I don't like the strenuous walks -- I get sweaty then have to sit in an air-conditioned office for the rest of the day)... Guest guest
Kiki, I have her book also. It's good too. It is a little harder for me to follow but only because of all the protein she eats. My body does alot better on fruits, vegies, whole grains, etc. and Fit for Llife is more on that line. I do eat some protein but I usually gain when I eat it and lose when I eat carbs. Go figure!!! Love, C, that's a great suggestion! I know that's what I'll do when I just can't do without the carbs. Guest guest
I have learned from various sources that blood type effects how we process certain foods. O blood types do very well on low carb because we assimilate and eliminate food more quickly than the others. Therefore, we can lose eating such things as red meat and fats. As and ABs on the other hand take longer to process meat and often experience constipation on low carb diets, especially Atkins. They are able to handle carbs better than Os and not gain. Something to think about. As and ABs are also better at extracting nutrients from foods and vitamins. They do well with herbal therapies whereas us O blood types may need stronger things like prescription meds for certain ailments. One thing is for certain, when you eat strict low carb and then suddenly stop that way of eating without easing back in, you gain the weight back faster than you lost it. In 4 weeks on Atkins, I lost 7 lb, one week off of low carb and I had gained back 10! There ya go!
Guest guest
Hi Bonnie, Do you remember when we were talking about our husbands being so much thinner that we. Well that night I was going through some books I had picked up at the used book store and there was this one--Outsmarting the female Fat Cell- by Debra Waterhouse.. It was a national bestseller a few years ago. And it is very good. It tells why we gain weight different than men and tells what to do about it. I am only half way through but the plan is called OFF. She says you can't starve a fat cell there is a built in protective mechanism that won't let you. Her plan is 1. Aerobicize your fat cells 2. Stop dieting and start eating 3. Feed your body not your fat cells 4. Shrink and multiply your meals 5. Become a daytime eater 6. FATPROOF your diet. She says anything more than 2pounds lost in a week is water and muscle and when you gain it back you gain it back as FAT. So far I really like what she says. And it is the same as NT.. eat when you are hungry quit when you are comfortable. Just thought I would share. hugs~ Connie Wednesday afternoon ... Hi All, Everyone seems to be doing so well!
