Thanks ,

So if I understand what you're saying, I could low-carb much of the day, yet

have a late-afternoon snack of a piece of fruit? I've always tried to " bury " my

fruit, i.e., eat a lot of protein with it to counterbalance the sugars...maybe

that's where I'm going wrong?

My breakfast is typically a low-carb cereal with added fruit (blackberries),

nuts (raw walnuts), flaxseed, coconut oil, and low-carb milk. I guess this would

sort-of be a carb meal? Or is it just totally wrong (I thought I was having a

healthy breakfast!). It works out to 500 calories. Maybe I should switch over to

oatmeal? I'm totally tired of eggs for breakfast!

And for lunch today I had a tuna sandwich with an apple -- no mayo, just the

tuna on some 9-grain bread. So this is another combination that's wrong?

Anyway, my weight seems to have stabilized, I'm not gaining anything more --but

I sure as heck am not losing any, either.

Thanks,

Bonnie

Re: Wednesday afternoon ...

HI Bonnie,

Have you ever tried food combining? I tried the low carb, no carb, WW and

everything in between and the only thing that works for me is the proper way to

combine foods. I think Rashelle eats this way also. You basically eat carbs

(good ones) and proteins but you just don't mix the two. In other words if you

want a cheeseburger, eat the meat and cheese with all the vegies at lunch and

the bun and vegies at night, etc. You also will never have indegestion this

way. I know one diet doesn't fit all but this is really not a diet, but a way

of eating. The best info I have read on the subject is Fit for Life by Harvey

Diamond.

Hi All,

Everyone seems to be doing so well! And I'm not...

I think I've gained about 50 pounds in the last week (well, probably more like

4-5 pounds) -- my clothes are snug around my waist, and I hate it! I'm not sure

I can stick this NT way of eating out! Though I think that first I'm going to

try basic low-carbing with NT -- eliminating the apples and bread : (

I think I'll try one more day (based on an apple I still have in my

refrigerator!!! LOL), then go back to the low-carbing. It really worries me,

though, that I'll have to stay at induction level low-carbing for the rest of my

life. Maybe I ought to try this another week and just see if I bloat up any

I imagine that my weight gain is carb-bloating. Maybe your body adjusts and

gets rid to it? I think it's ALL in my belly! Anyone have any ideas?

I'm continuing with my LL exercises -- and had a really good (lots of steep

hills) walk this lunch -- the weather is finally co-operating (when it gets too

hot, I don't like the strenuous walks -- I get sweaty then have to sit in an

air-conditioned office for the rest of the day)...

Hi Kiki,

I also count ALL liquids, not just water! Haven't understood the reasoning that

I could drink 8 ounces of water with a caffeine tab and legally counted 8 ounces

of water -- but if I have 8 ounces of coffee that it doesn't count as water!

And I do drink a lot of water (and other liquids) -- as much as Atkins

recommends....

My weight seems to have stabilized, guess the jump then subsequent slight loss

was just my body switching -- it looks like I'm headed to a more careful

analysis of my foods, I was likely eating too much fats (from nuts and dairy

products) -- thought I was okay because I don't like fried foods or fatty meat

.... then entered everything into Fit Day for a bit, was amazed at how much

" hidden " fat I was eating....

Oh to have the metabolism of a 20-year-old!!!!!

Re: Wednesday afternoon ...

Hi Bonnie,

With everyone being different, it's hard to say. But if you've gained that

much weight, I'd say you're doing something you shouldn't be, or not doing

something you should be. Clear as mud now, isn't it? LOL

I wouldn't start believing that if you go back to induction way of eating

that you'll have to stay on it the rest of your life tho. My guess, and that's

ALL it is, is that you may have just jumped into a new way of eating {including

the fruit and whatnot} and your body just isn't used to it, so it's holding

onto the sugar, which we know does turn to fat. Had to throw that in...LOL

I'm curious how much water you're drinking? Could that be a reason? Not

drinking enough? Personally, for me, I include ALL my fluid as my fluid intake.

I

know on Adkins, that's not the way, tho It's just a thought.

Sweetie, I wish I was closer {I wish we were ALL closer!} so we could help

each other, other than trying to figure it out on here.

Love ya,

Kiki

Hi Liz,

I take probiotics every morning and evening -- it's really helped with digestive

problems -- I guess when I said bloating, I was meaning that my stomach was

sticking out even more than usual, not that there was any discomfort....

Thanks,

Bonnie

Re: Wednesday afternoon ...

Hi Bonnie,

Do you use digestive enzymes? They help me tremendously with gas and bloating

from foods. Just a thought.

Hi Liz,

So how do you do all those things?

1. Aerobicize your fat cells

2. Stop dieting and start eating

3. Feed your body not your fat cells

4. Shrink and multiply your meals

5. Become a daytime eater

6. FATPROOF your diet

1. would LL be aerobicizing the fat cells, particularly when done with

Rashelle's exercises???

2. I'm trying that with somewhat the NT method

3. ?

4. hmm -- I have a tendency to skip meals then get really hungry -- that's a

hard one to change, when you're busy you tend to ignore hunger, etc.

5. I never eat after supper (which we have as soon as we get home from work,

about 7PM)

6. How do you fatproof a diet -- does that mean not eating fats????

Hi Bonnie, Do you remember when we were talking about our husbands

being so much thinner that we. Well that night I was going through some

books I had picked up at the used book store and there was this

one--Outsmarting the female Fat Cell- by Debra Waterhouse.. It was a

national bestseller a few years ago. And it is very good. It tells why

we gain weight different than men and tells what to do about it. I am

only half way through but the plan is called OFF. She says you can't

starve a fat cell there is a built in protective mechanism that won't

let you. Her plan is

1. Aerobicize your fat cells

2. Stop dieting and start eating

3. Feed your body not your fat cells

4. Shrink and multiply your meals

5. Become a daytime eater

6. FATPROOF your diet.

She says anything more than 2pounds lost in a week is water and muscle

and when you gain it back you gain it back as FAT.

So far I really like what she says. And it is the same as NT.. eat when

you are hungry quit when you are comfortable.

Just thought I would share. hugs~ Connie

That is ok. The book says: I will answer in the order you asked.

1. walk or SOMETHING a half and a hour a day~move t hard enough to be

able to sing Old Mc had a farm~breath~

ei ei o~breath.

2. Eat several mini-meals a day instead of 3 big ones (Rashelle

advocates this too).

3. Eat only when you are hungry and stop when you are full. She says

that our stomachs are the size of our fists and we should not eat more

than that at a time.

4. Back to the fist thing and many small meals.

5. Try to eat MOST of your food before evening. (hard one)

6. Fat does not metabolize like carbohydrates but goes straight to your

fat cells so cut down on the fat ~no more most of the time 20 %-per food

item. Do the fat finding formula on food ~ 9 x # of fat grams (on

product) and divide that into calories.= % of fat in that particular

food. Not all have to be under or at 20% but try for 1 per 3 food

choices.

Hope something of this helps you, Bonnie. Hugs~Connie
