I am so very sorry you lost everything..but in the end, you gained peace. Which

is better than any material item, no matter how costly. But that is easy to

say, not easy to live because starting over from nothing is awfully hard to do.

I am glad to hear you find yourself in a better place these days.

I am curious about something though. You mention mites but also mention

spores...Do you actually know what it was that you were moving away from? I say

this because I am beginning to think that mites are the beginning of a very

difficult battle which may end with us dealing with something else, a mold, a

fungus or a bacteria. I believe that whatever is left over after mites, besides

sickness and infection, is something that can travel through the air and infest

our bodies, perhaps will live in our clothes, our furniture, etc.

I think we must discover what this is. I believe it was that put out

petri dishes and discovered some type of fungus which existed in her home. This

was a plant parasite, but not a human parasite...but is it possible that this

plant parasite has evolved to parasitize humans? And maybe that is what we are

dealing with?

Has anyone else taken samples of these black specks and had them analyzed? I

have looked at them under a microscope and they look like dirt with green and/or

yellow spots. There is a killer fungus in the Pacific Northwest, so it is not

unheard of for fungus to attack humans. There may be some sort of symbiosis at

play between this fungus and bird mites.

Any thoughts about that?

Hi Terry,

If I were you, I would consider buying the Home Depot Mold Test Kit.

You put the samples in their test kit and send them off to their

labs and they tell you if you have mold. I think someone from

birdmites did so, and it came back as black mold. They had similar

symptoms to all of us. That's one way to find out what this really

is.

I basically moved 3 times and that's how I got rid of 95% of the

problem, but if I was in the same situation again, knowing what I

know now, I would do 2 things: I would get the Igenex Western Blot,

and if positive, I would start treatment for Lyme. From what I've

seen here, people have been able to beat this monster through

internal treatment, so it looks like it would be the most effective

way to go without having to throw everything out and lose thousands

of dollars trying other stuff.

I'd also see a Lyme literate doctor.

Hi Jess, I will do that. I did not Home Depot had such a kit. I know there is

also some company in Texas that will send you out petri dishes to have

collections attained. You mail the closed petri dishes to them for an analysis.

So thank you for the Home Depot idea. It might be cheaper.

Yes I think you are quite right about getting the test and seeing an LLMD. I am

so sorry that I have come along after you guys have done all the heavy lifting

on this, but I just want you to know how grateful I am that everyone took the

time, and continues to take the time to respond to newer sufferers, such as

myself, and how fortunate we are to have your help in guiding us.

I read also about the killer fungus in the northwest. The specks I had looked like two different things 1) some were a mottled green, almost looking like a bit of pond scum; 2) some were fibers, coiled up which initially looked black, but magnified were actually tiny fibers all balled up. I thought about getting the Home Depot kit, but my doctor recommended the company out of Texas. I don't know the differences between the companies that do the testing... the company in Texas has not been responsive to phone calls. I finally got the results back, but wanted to speak to the doctor who did the testing. I'll call again today. From: "mitesbegone" <no_reply >bird mites Sent: Sunday, April 29, 2012 10:59:47 PMSubject: Re: for Birdlover- yes threw out everfythingHi Jess, I will do that. Yep, I have seen them of both types. But interestingly, the ones that mostly

come off of me look like the pond scum variety while the ones that were coming

off my dog looked like threads bundled together.

That will be terrific. I went online and did research on mold, etc. and found several environmental testing companies, but most of them seemed to work for large corporations as clients, not the individual. I would love to hear about any answers you get. I can't help but think that there is a definite relationship between mites and this fungi. I found an article that seemed to touch upon some of this:Microbial Ecology2011, DOI: 10.1007/s00248-011-9969-6Detection and Identification of Species-Specific Bacteria Associated with Synanthropic Mites.Hubert J, Kopecký J, Perotti MA, Nesvorná M, Braig HR, Ságová-MareÄková M, Macovei L, Zurek L.SourceCrop Research Institute, Drnovská 507, Praha 6-RuzynÄ›, 161 06, Czech Republic, hubert@....AbstractInternal bacterial communities of synanthropic mites Acarus siro, Dermatophagoides farinae, Lepidoglyphus destructor, and Tyrophagus putrescentiae (Acari: Astigmata) were analyzed by culturing and culture-independent approaches from specimens obtained from laboratory colonies. Homogenates of surface-sterilized mites were used for cultivation on non-selective agar and DNA extraction. Isolated bacteria were identified by sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene. PCR amplified 16S rRNA genes were analyzed by terminal restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis (T-RFLP) and cloning sequencing. Fluorescence in situ hybridization using universal bacterial probes was used for direct bacterial localization. T-RFLP analysis of 16S rRNA gene revealed distinct species-specific bacterial communities. The results were further confirmed by cloning and sequencing (284 clones). L. destructor and D. farinae showed more diverse communities then A. siro and T. putrescentiae. In the cultivated part of the community, the mean CFUs from four mite species ranged from 5.2 × 10(2) to 1.4 × 10(3) per mite. D. farinae had significantly higher CFUs than the other species. Bacteria were located in the digestive and reproductive tract, parenchymatical tissue, and in bacteriocytes. Among the clones, Bartonella-like bacteria occurring in A. siro and T. putresecentiae represented a distinct group related to Bartonellaceae and to Bartonella-like symbionts of ants. The clones of high similarity to Xenorhabdus cabanillasii were found in L. destructor and D. farinae, and one clone related to Photorhabdus temperata in A. siro. Members of Sphingobacteriales cloned from D. farinae and A. siro clustered with the sequences of "Candidatus Cardinium hertigii" and as a separate novel cluster.By the way, I did not know what CFU was so I looked it up. It stands for Colony Forming Unit and it means: A measure of viable cells in which a colony represents an aggregate of cells derived from a single progenitor cell. CFU is used to determine the number of viable bacterial cells in a

sample per mL. Hence, it tells the degree of contamination in samples of water, vegetables, soil or fruits, or the magnitude of the infection in humans and animals. The mites they used were the dust mite, two different storage mites and a mold mite. I think it is very important to continue to pursue knowledge of what this bacteria or fungus may be that has been left behind. There are after all fungus building ants, why not fungus building mites??? So, I have written to a Professor Sparagano (Professor in Applied Biosciences and Biotechnology, Director of the Biomolecular and Biomedical Research centre (BioReC) School of Life Sciences, Department of Biomedical Sciences, Northumbria University). He has published or co/published several articles about the red mite and bacterial implications. I hope he will be able to shed some light on what is going on. I figure, what the heck...it can't hurt right?!I will keep you posted. But I will tell you, I am so saddened by what is happening to everyone. The loss of their home and personal items, the financial destruction, the health destruction...it is just too much. I wish I could be more altruistic, but as I too am suffering along with everyone, it is a tad bit self serving to say the least. I am sorry for that.Best to you, Terry.
