Certificate

Pete,Thats always been the case at least as far back as I can remember. The

HSEoffshore medics certificate is only " officially " recognised in the NorthSea.

So if you have no intention of ever working in the North Sea you

couldtechnically get away without having it.However as a number of members have

found, (Tom) it's still sometimes foundas a requirement for international jobs,

my previous post being an example, shore based in Kazakhstan but the JD required

a UK HSE offshore medicsticket, purely because the guy that wrote the JD was

familar with theconcept. Most often the reason is either historical or the fact

thecompanies are UK based or the guy writing the JD is experienced in thatarea.

Often there is also a lack of understanding by the employer of whathis percieved

needs are versus his actual needs. In short you have to balance whether or not

you want to bother doing thecourse versus the kind of roles you hoping to

gain.Hope this helps Pete,Cheers for nowIanOn 23/01/2008,
