Hi All

I am not sure if I missed all previous discussion on this course (I

probably did). Can anyone refresh me with regard to how well this

course will go with regard to industry acceptance and how well it

will be recognised by other educational institutions. I am based down

under and thinking of getting back into remote area health care after

an 18 month break. Background in EMS/pre-hospital care.

It looks interesting to me.

Thanks

Darren

Darren,

The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh are one of the leading academic

institutions in the UK in regard to Pre-Hospital care (amongst other things)

so in terms of acceptance I doubt you'd find anything more widely

recognised.

In terms of industry experience remember this is not designed to replace the

UK HSE medics course, the is a post grad diploma level academic

qualification aimed at those medics, who want " more " than the usual range

of qualifications, its built and designed around remote and offshore medics

and the likely skill sets they will need. All of the tutors so far are

experts in their fields or have years of industry experience. This won't be

a tick in the box course, but a full on academic battle with the books. Of

course at the end of it (assuming you pass) you will be issued with a

Diploma by one of leading medical institutions in the UK, but that isn't the

important part, the important part is you will have completed a specific

diploma designed solely for the remote medic, something that to date is not

available anywhere else in the world.

Just as the DipPHC issued by the college has become THE gold standard pre

hospital care qual we would like to see the DipROM take the same vain.

In short if I were a manager reviewing CV's and I had to identical

candidates, one with and one without the diploma, I know which one I'd

take.....

Its post grad level, entry will be judged on a case by case basis by a panel

of college members and peers, this is still being finalised as we speak,
