Guest guest
there you go A woman has an ulcer for about 3 weeks and she says that it is there since the new lower denture was placed. What would you do? Adjust the lower denture and wait for 3 weeks for the ulcer to heal, do incisional biopsy immediately, do excisional biopsy, send her to oncologist. in my opinion ;although any oral ulcer has 3 weeks age should be refered to oncologist however the reason behind this one is the newly fitted denture near the ulcer place so ..THE FIRST option is the right one .so what do you think guys??? Guest guest
hi areej, in this case u should check the patient patient social and family history. from the dental history is clearly signifies that its because of new denture . usually with the new denture its one of the common problem. rule out other cause for ulcer. educate the patient , adjust the denture with trimming and polishing. and advise the patient to avoid the denture as far as possible till the ulcer heals. or you can do apply denture conditioning if the dentures can not be avoided. maintain oral hygiene give cholrhex mouth wash , analgesic mouth wash . take the picture or the ulcer. etraoral eamination of the lymph nodes. maintain a detail record in patient record book. and recall after 7 to 10 days. usually look for the rolled borders of the ulcer and other feature of carcinoma . if its prescent in the first visit u should go for a urgent referral. correct me thanksveenaFrom: Areej Abbas <areej.aldura@...>Subject: ore ques /ulcers" " < >Date: Wednesday, 18 January, 2012, 10:55 AM there you go A woman has an ulcer for about 3 weeks and she says that it is there since the new lower denture was placed.
