Hi Sneha, Acute pulpitis means the pain symptoms are acute causing severe pain.Reversible or Irrevesible pulpitis both can give acute symptoms depending upon the INFLAMMATORY CELLS FOUND IN THE INFECTED PULP OF HOST(for example flaring up of a long standing irreversible pulpitis can show cells which are seen in acute infection).Similarly,both reversible and irreversible pulpitis can be chronic giving mild pain symptoms.To summarize, when you are making a diagnosis clinically diffrentiating into reversible and irreversible can help you in making a decision for treatment where as acute and chronic classification is more useful for histological

have suggested permanent filling case no 9)

As a part of treatment planning explanation to the patient : Do we explain him

about L A and then do filling or not ? or we just say that will do filling only

and not mention LA.

4) DO WE EXPLAIN SANDWICH TECHNIQUE AS A OPTION FOR FILLING FOR REVERSIBLE

PULPITIS

5) Emergency phase: If caries is not too deep, then also we shd tell that I

will do tempr filling and in next visit I will do permanent filling or not so?

sneha,in emergency phase u always have to do temporary filling..as far as I

know in uk

...if a pt comes with tooth pain then u don’t do any permanent on same

day..u do temporary to relief pain okie.im not too sure wat odell has to

say tough.as

far as I know…we have acute reversible pulpitis and chronic irreversible

pulpitis..so din get ur doubt.in

emergency phase in case of chronic pulpitis u open access to canal,clean

it n put temp filling.but if it is reversible pulpitis then u remove

etiology n fill it..but tat too temp not permanent.dats wat they do in ukin

treatment plan explanation..when u say abt filling u can always say..i

have to do filling n b4 dat I will nump d area so that u wont feel any

panic.i think tat is more than enough as we have lot of explain.regarding

sandwich tecq…I haven’t heard they anyone saying in exam though they do in

practical…..even

if caries is not deep..u do temp filling n keep eye on d tooth n do

vitality check in nxt visit as well.
