Guest guest
HH, if BPE is 2,3,4 we need prescribe xray according to guideline about BPE score, & we should adjust it in new treatment plan guideline. But if whole sectants r 2, shall we request horizontal bitewing for whole mouth which is more accurate to assess bone level, as DPT is only for periodontitis, BPE 3,4. or in this case DPT is less radiation to pt than full mouth bitewing. do anybody know the answer??!! Guest guest
it is more for 4 thoughbut if you look at the case nick wildie there scores 343 and lower 232..and it is said in the note for simplicity DTP was given,...but the latest guidelines within selection criteria for dental radio stipulate a full mouth periapical is more appropriate...that is why it is confusing bcoz in osces you have BPE and than you tell horizontal or vertical b/wing..in 4 definitely vertic/selected periap. Guest guest
Thanks everyone, its really confusing, I think in x-ray prescription if we need DPT or P.A film we must write the reference like; selection criteria for dental radio 2nd edition or NICE guideline..etc, to be in safe side. Guest guest
yes,true...i did not know abt vertical bitewings they are not used already...?but I can see why coz they are not always give the furcation areas...and less teeth shown...so better off with periapicals...selected....
