Broken file osce

Hello ML

This is the idea I have about doing this ocse:

& #61607; Calmly explain to the patient that a fine instrument has broken in the

canal and that you will try to remove it

& #61607; If you can see the broken file , try to grasp with a pair of very

slender tweezers (mosquito forceps )

& #61607; Otherwise take a radiograph to assess its position

& #61607; Try to dislodge the broken file by passing a fine file along side

& #61607; If this fails , consider trying a Massernan kit

& #61607; If still not successful , explain that you are unable to retrieve it

and you would refer you to a specialist who will aim to remove it and complete

RCT

& #61607; Tell them that he may try removal by ultrasonic instrumentation

& #61607; He may also be able to create space for passing a small file alongside

it by using a substance called EDTA

& #61607; If all the methods of retrieval are unsuccessful then he will fill the

remainder of the root canal up to the level of the socket

& #61607; Explain that the tooth will need to be kept under observation, as it

may be necessary to carry out a procedure called apicectomy at a later stage

& #61607; Record the incident in clinical notes

& #61607; Ask the patient if they have any queries

Suggestions are welcome by any one .

Regards

GHAZALA
