Dear Amitrajit & the FORUM,

More and more people are getting married through the matrimonial columns on the

web and in the newspapers. This is what statistics show and the same is true

largely due to the break down of the joint family system, and social / filial

networks in our community.

However the point is not that. The point is that each and every possible media

must be explored to communicate the meassage of HIV/AIDS awareness, prevention,

treatment, care, and the need for a non-stigmatized environment for the PLWAs to

the general public

amongst whom the virus is spreading at a very fast pace.

And finally of utmost importance is the fact that in light of the situation

where the amount of money available is to be spent most efficiently a

comprehensive communictaion stratgey needs to be designed and implemented at the

earliest.

Within which the matrimonial columns will be one of the vehicle. Such a stragety

at presently missing as we all know. In the absence of the same, I do agree with

Amitrajit that it may end up being a 'gimicky' awareness programme.
