Guest guest
True; however there are synthetic chemicals and natural chemicals. When humans evolved we wee given like other animals the ability to handle natural chemcials .. We have not evolved so that human bodies can use synthetic chemicals. Almost 2,000 people die every year in the States from the side-effects of NSAIDS including as aspirin, - this is when they are taken 'correctly' . But aspirin is a synthetic chemical. It was taken from White Willow bark - and yet there are no fatalities to white willow bark and in a study they found it was just as effective as vioxx. So not all chemicals are created equal - just all synthetic ones are............ best wishes Shan > > A chemical is a chemical whether it is a rx'd drug or so called > " natural " or bought over the counter. >
Guest guest
Natural and Synthetic are not good descriptions. A " synthetic " can be bio-identical to a " natural " product. There are many examples of this. A synthetic that isn't bio-identical is what one might want to avoid, or not, depending on the product. Some brands of vitamin E product a dl product where have the the product is bio-identical so one isomer of vitmain E (there are 8), and the half of the product is an unnatural variant of vitamin E. The term " Xenobiotic " may be closer to describing products not naturally found in the body or perhaps found it greater amounts than normal. But, I'm convened that some xenobiotics are beneficial and lend towards a longer and healthier life in the average person. A drug that increases dopamine in the brain and slows or prevents the 10% per decade loss of dopamine producing cells that comes with aging is one such drug. Everyone who lives long enough WILL GET parkenson's disease if they don't take this particular drug if the live past 110 years of age. With health care improving, I expect to live past 110 so I take it. There are many other xenobiotics both unnatural and natural (in greater than normal amounts) that fit the bill of being beneficial. I disagree that willow bark is just as effective as aspirin and completely safe. It did nothing for me (no pain removing effect like aspirin) and if one were to take enough to have the same strength as aspirin (I tried this), one would get the same complications across a large population. Charcoal taken regularly is being used to slow or stop renal failure from getting worse (it can slow or prevent your eGFR from decreasing). However, people die every year from ingesting Charcoal in large amounts - why they do it, who knows? There's also a micro particle version of charcoal that is a prescription drug in some countries which has been well tested in kidney failure cases. Food breakdown produces chemicals that are toxic to kidneys over time and charcoal absorbs these produces so they never enter the blood stream where only the kidneys can process them. Charcoal is an " unnatural " or Xenobiotic product that has long term positive results. Steve Shan wrote: > > > > True; however there are synthetic chemicals and natural chemicals.
