Guest guest
, I don't know if anyone has told you about the wonders of L-Lysine, which can be found at the health food store...but it can do wonders with outbreaks...they use it for all the types of herpes. You'll need to ask at your healthfood store, or with a pharmacist, what dose to give. I know that for an adult it's 1500mg 3xs a day...so it's a LOT...but it works! Also...when the sores are out like that, avoid citrus and berries, and beans...any highly acidic foods. This is a time when protein is what you want to feed them....animal protein being the best. Again...not beans, they're too acidic. Sorry about your little one...that is heartbreaking. I'll be praying for you both... Jesica
Guest guest
Hi... A couple of things--Madi gets her sores on her gums as well as her inner lip. The most painful for her are the ones that come on that are either a large one or 2-3 that are on her gum, that piece that connects your inner bottom lip to the gums, and her inner lip--hurts for her to talk, eat, etc. We avoid orange juice, tomato sauce, acidic fruits, etc. I've put Ambesol on it, and this stuff called Kanka ? Something (I'll try & find it, and post the name for you), it at least numbs the spot for a while. GlyOxide works well too, to clean the sore. On a side note, I have ulcerative colitis (and we think in addition to , Madi has early signs of IBD--perhaps these sores are related to that vs. ? Who reall knows.) & are prone to sores in my mouth--esp if I'm stressed out, am having a flare-up, etc. About 2 months ago, I swore I had strep. My throat was KILLING me (I hate going to the doctor & have a high pain tolerance, so it was really bugging!), so I went to the dr. It was a herpes sore, I had never had one on my throat--very painful. She prescribed Valtrex (dh had a good laugh about me being a desperate housewife, needing this Rx...sorry, had to throw in some humor!). Doc also gave me lydocaine to rinse with--hated it, it numbed my whole mouth, so I drooled, and then within 5 mins, it was wearing off... I can tell you that these types of sores are far worse than run-of-the mill kanker sores. When I get them on my gums, tongue, and (now) throat--it affects how/what I eat, how I speak, my mood, everything...they can literally ruin my day. I don't know how our little ones deal with them at all. Good luck. I've always assumed Madi's sores were related, or pre-IBD symptoms. I'll post that medicine asap. I also give her tylenol for pain when she gets them, in addition to the topical treatments. Hope he's feeling better soon! > > Hello, > Just a question on mouth sores... my son Drew has always got mouth > sores both with the fever and often times with no other symptoms. > We sometimes battle sore after sore. Guest guest
Hello , My son Britain was originally diagnosed with the herpes virus when the episodes first started and that was about a year and a half ago. Then later on the was diagnosed. Our pediatrician still insists that the two have to be related but he can't prove it yet. We just saw him today, just the monthly cycle but I was off on my dates otherwise we don't go in if it his normal time. I don't have any magic remedy just prayers. We sometimes battle sore after sore. A few times in his life, he's had really bad outbreaks, that will affect almost his entire mouth- covering most of his tongue and cheeks. I think I remember a few times having it on his gums. He had a episode 10 days ago, with fever to 103, swollem lymph nodes, and sore throat (he's had his tonsils out already). Then this past weekend, started complaining of mouth pain. I finally got a good look in there yesterday- it's tough to look closely in the painful mouth of a 3year old- and his gums were swollen, especially on one side. Parts were even swollen over his teeth and he had blisters. I took him to his pediatrician today, who said she was pretty sure this was unrelated to and that it could be an outbreak of herpes stomatitis. However, she has told us this in the past before he was diagnosed. Do any of your children get sores on the gums themselves? Drew's mouth is a mess- swollen gums with sores, a few -looking sores on the tongue and inside of his lip. We've tried so many different mouthwashes, perscriptions, etc. I'm sure there's not one that we haven't tried, but he doesn't trust anything so he throws a fit if we try to get him to rinse or dab anything on the sores. We've had a few good months, it's just so discouraging when this thing pops up again!!! Thanks, mom to Drew, age 3 town RI
