Guest guest
Hello, I don't have a specific recipe for a cucumber mask, but you could just add pureed cucumber, as a wetting agent, to a clay base and you would have a nice fresh cucumber mask. I add all sorts of natural wetting agents to my masks, apple juice is great too. Just make enough for a one-time use and there is no need to preserve or refrigerate. HTH, Sydney help please Hello, I am new here and I am sorry that my first post is for help, I have been searching for a recipe for a Cuccumber Facial Mask. Guest guest
That sounds wonderful Sydney but the problem with that is my Mom lives in another state as I do so I would have to make a big batch of it. What would I use as a preservative if I were to make a big batch and send to her? I know if I told her to keep it in the fridge she would but putting something cold on the face will close the pores instead of opening them up. I appreciate your help in this! Guest guest
It sounds to me as though the doctor is treating only a symptom - itching - and not the root cause of the problem. Has s/he given you a diagnosis? My guess would be 'no'. I don't blame you for not giving your son Phenergan... doping him is not a solution. Although it's impossible to say for sure - what you're describing sounds like either excema or an allergy, perhaps contact dermatitis. A starting place - for prepping the skin for a home remedy - would be for him to wash (shower or bathe) with Dawn dishwashing liquid.. which is what was recommended by my daughter's dermatologist years ago for all kinds of skin conditions. No scrubbing - just thorough washing. I'm an RN, and have used that recommendation many times to others - with positive feedback from them often. I'm still trying to lurk and learn on this list, so those with the expertise will recommend some form of treatment to you. HTH.. help please My son has a bad skin problem. The doctor has been of no help excepting saying just keep him on the Phenergan. It makes him dopey so I don't like it too much!!!!!!! it is patches of dry scaley itchy skin from his ankles to his knees also a patch has been spotted on his elbow. what can I use to help this any ideas please TIA Joanne
Guest guest
> > >My son has a bad skin problem. -- Hi Joanne, Sounds like eczema, or dermatitis, I would change your washing powder to a non-bio and get him to use an all olive oil soap and see how that goes. My son had this problem when he was little, also does he drink full cream milk? if so give him skimmed milk. This worked for my son now he only uses my home made soap, on his skin and his clothes. Guest guest
Another thought, everyone is different....................my daughter has eczema and one thing that brings it out is Dawn dishwashing detergent. All she has to do is look at the stuff and she starts with eruptions. One thing I've found that has worked for my hubby is the MSM that everyone is raving about. He's been using the cream for about a week and it's nearly gone. Another point.........has your son been checked for allergies, particularly food allergies? My sil was in horrible shape and had been treated all her life for this horrible skin condition. They did, just a couple of years back, test her for food allergies. She had so many that she had a hard time eating a normal diet. Not only did she have the skin problems, but she also had asthma from all this. If she can stick to her diet she does wonderfully. Guest guest
Another thing I forgot to mention...........with my daughters skin, she can only use the home made Fels Naptha laundry detergent that we make. Anything else and she's in trouble. Carolyn help please > My son has a bad skin problem. The doctor has been of no help excepting saying just keep him on the Phenergan. Guest guest
How true, Carolyn.. everyone is definitely different! Even though Dawn is one of the least likely suspects for an allergy - when one develops an allergy to a 'least likely suspect', it can be a BIG problem. My daughter (the one for whom the Dawn was recommended) fought serious contact dermatitis allergies for several years.. was allergy tested, given steroids both by mouth and injectables, would develop 'malignant urticaria' (hives that wouldn't go away for weeks).. etc. When I finally took her to the doc (who ultimately recommended the Dawn), we discovered the aggravating factor was, of all things, Diphenhydramine Hcl (Benadryl! - which is considered one of the first line drugs of choice for an allergic reaction!). Sheesh! Go figure! Benadryl spray is one of the most highly sensitizing products on the market.. meaning it causes allergies in many people. Once an allergy develops to that form of Benadryl, all forms are allergens. Not one healthcare provider has even believed her when she tells them she's allergic to it! And they call that health 'care'. Uh-huh, sure.. : ) nan back to lurk mode Re: help please > It sounds to me as though the doctor is treating only a symptom - itching - > and not the root cause of the problem. Guest guest
You have to officially register for the challenge. Once you've done that, they mail you a competitor's packet. You fill that out, attach your pictures, and return it at the end of the 12 weeks. Personally, I wouldn't eat Detour bars every day. I probably have 2 or 3 a week. It's always better to eat balanced whole food meals than bars. HELP PLEASE hi there how are you all doing? i just wonder ,do ihave to send eas anything for joining the chalange or only when i finish. can i restart on the 20th challange? another question do you think the detour bar could be used everyday its pretty rich. thanks and have a great weekend magdalena
Guest guest
Jen, If it were me, and of course this is totally about will power, I would make one either the ball or my husband's party my freeday. I would decide during which scenario it would be easier to eat " my " food and go with that. For instance, if my husband's party was at my, or a friend's home, it would be fairly easy to eat my own food and wrap up any goodies for my next freeday. If however, it weren't I would take a few things in my purse, to the ball and go in the girls room to eat them, concentrating on dancing and having a social time, rather than the food. If I were hosting a party it would definitely be easier for me to skip the food, as I am always too busy with making things right to eat very much. By the way, good job on getting up this morning....is there any way your husband could look after Noah when he gets up bright and early as well? I think getting my body adjusted to the early rise is more than half the battle. Hope you have a good day and you work this whole " junk " food issue out. Guest guest
-- I will make either the party which is Sat my free day, or Sunday the normal free day. I am hosting the party, so that will be easy since I am in my home. Then I will wrap some food up for me to have on Sunday. Friday I will bring one meal with me, maybe two. I just hope I can carry the will power! Dave can't watch Noah in the a.m. because he doesn't get up til it's 20 mins before he has to leave! My legs are sore also from my lbwo yesterday.....and it feels good! - In , <tinifer@s...> wrote: > Jen, > If it were me, and of course this is totally about > will power, I would make one either the ball or my > husband's party my freeday. Guest guest
Read the book? There's a listing of foods to get started with. Get it at your library if you havent yet read it. The basics, you know a wedge of lean meat, vegetables, sometimes brown rice or a half baked potato - you just cant go wrong. Read up more on the BFl website under nutrition at: http://www.bodyforlife.com Oh and you don't need meal replacement powders - they are just convenient as are the bars. Eating 5-6 small nutritious meals in equal protein/carbs/and low in fats - no junkfood, no full sugar sodas, and drink lots of water and you are off to a good start. :-) <<joni>> *eat to live dont live to eat*
Guest guest
Hi ! I too am a lurker, but I'll jump in here for ya. You are lucky to have fresh goat's milk. That's one of the luxuries living in the city doesn't allow. :-( The lye calculator is easy to use. There are a few out there, but the most commonly used one is at http://www.thesage.com The link is right at the top of the page. You just put in the amounts of the oils you want to use and it tells you how much water and lye (their preferred range is noted) to use. They also have great recipes and product descriptions, in case you wonder what a certain oil is for. -
