Guest guest
The Queen is patron of the RCN and ever since Queen andra hospital nursing has had a prominent place in the scheme of things. Senate members involved in the QNI might wish to bring matters to the attention of Her Majesty, or suggest a discussion in the Privy Council (where New Labour Yesmen are not in a majority) but in the long term what is needed is a Royal College of Health Visiting that would be consulted along with all the other colleges (even the tiny Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists) on all major matters of health policy. As the Oxford colleges have found to their repeated advantage, a Royal Charter trumps mere enabling legislation within the Palace of Westminster.... Peers of the Realm have an ancient right of access to their Monarch (in the absence of a formal Royal Court this only really means something at the opening of each Parliament nowadays): does Senate/QNI/CPHVA have a noble spokesperson or a bishop (both my old colleges won Royal Charters through the intervention of Lords Spiritual) who would set in motion the RCHV? Guest guest
check out mountainroseherbs.com- they're in Eugene. They have incredibly high quality products, many of which are certified organic. They are a little pricey, but the quality fits the price. corrina help please > i just moved to the eugene, oregon area. does anyone know where i > can get supplies locally?? > > > > > >
Guest guest
You're in excellent territory. I'm over here on the coast in Gold Beach. Glory Bee is right in Eugene and at least in my experience with soaping supplies and good quality carrier and fixed oils, plus bulk herbs and additives, it's been a good experience. Are you looking for other supplies? let me know what particularly and perhaps can point you in a few other areas depending on what you need. I don't often have to shop outside Oregon and my supplies vary considerably. Guest guest
Age 11 is when the teasing started for me too. I am an aspie, but at the time I did not know it. My parents tried everything they could think of to stop the teasing, even to the point of taking me around to the homes of the boys who were teasing me and talking to their parents. That helped for a very short while, but when the teasing began again, it was worse than ever. I have an adult daughter now who is an aspie, and there's never been anything I could do to stop her "honesty". The more I try, the worse she seems to get. Make sure he never uses the word gun at school again - they are super sensitive to that these days. There is one thing you might try. Use his rulebindedness in your favor. Instead of telling him - do this, or don't do that, make the rule a general one. Say - "when we see someone smoking we tell a teacher", or "when students see someone smoking the rule is to tell a teacher." That way he has to violate a "rule" to do this again. Help please Hello all. I don't post much but I have a situation that I would like some input on. My 11 year old son has asperger's and is having a really hard time with his first year of middle school. He is bullied almost non stop and has retaliated only once - by telling the child that he wished he had a gun so that he could kill him and then he would leave him alone. I was shocked and saddened when the school called to tell me what Matt had said. Apparently, the other kids were smoking at the bus stop and my son " the moral crusader", decided to take it upon himself to point out their bad behavior and why they should stop. Needless to say, the older kids didn't take it well and the bullying began. Do any of you have an experience in how to teach your child to deal with situations like the one above? I have told him that he should tell an adult instead of confronting them head on, but you know Aspie kids - everything is black and white and they just don't understand why we don't see things the same way they do. Any help would be appreciated. Lynn - Visit your group "Autism and Aspergers Treatment" on the web.
Guest guest
Lynn, You are not alone, I assure you. I don't know what the answer is, but you can have guidelines written in your IEP to avoid certain situations. I don't know what state you are in, but here are some things we have done to avoid certain trigger bullying times: Kenny is able to go to the bus stop AS it approaches, instead of waiting with the other kids. I also fought for him to be the last one picked up in the morning, and the first dropped off in the afternoon. He also sits in the very front. He leaves every class 3 minutes early in transition times, to avoid hallway conflicts. He does not attend gym class. He goes to the bathroom closest to the front office, it is private.....one at a time type. We also have a "clause" written in about retaliation, it is unheard of here to protect yourself, in fact, he could be suspended, etc. We had it written that if it is retaliation, he will not be reprimanded. There is a great book written by Rebekah Heinrichs, Perfect Targets, Asperger Syndrome & Bullying. You could probably get it used on Amazon.com. We start school in August here, and these things have helped a great deal. We are working very hard with Kenny about "silent thoughts", he uses a fidget toy when he has the urge to say something he shouldn't.(even if he is right!) Good luck, keep us posted! Guest guest
, thanks for your reply - have settled down a bit since Saturday when I received their letter. Also on medication to settle my blood pressure which seems to have my emotions all over the place. Most of my stress at the moment is coming from his mimicking behaviour of other clients, which Osaat (day placement program) are choosing to ignore. I wrote to Human Services (Government Dept.) asking for assistance with a letter of support from our GP. Osaat were happy with my intervention as they had previously phoned Human Services without any success for help. Human Services, interviewed me, and Interviewed Osaat, whereas I stressed we needed help and the mimicking was getting to us more than anything along with loads of other things. When they interviewed Osaat, they said they were ignoring him and finding things a lot better and as they were doing a bit of speech therapy he had settled a bit. The thing is I have been in there and seen him being extremely withdrawn and hiding in a corner (which isn't him, more of an extrovert) for a period in excess of 15 minutes before I intervened - I am sure the staff member in the room was not even aware of what he was doing. Since they have taken to ignoring him, I have been told of 3 other instances of unacceptable behaviour, which I believe is directly related to him being ignored. He has made a small tear in the vinyl bus seat into a big rip, thrown his back pack over the railing at a tourist venue just missing an Osaat staff member and walked out from behind the bus when told to wait. I have also been told that they have found another persons wallet in his bag and another time money that wasn't his. In this instance he may have been set up, completely out of character. Then again, as he has had his MP3 player and radio go missing, and his CD Discman broken maybe he is trying to get back at others. At home, he will still mimic - last night dropping his dinner on the floor as he was being a person with CP, and not holding onto the plate properly. Last week, I was in Casualty - having my blood pressure checked on one of their machines, as the attention was on me he started jumping/flapping/making loud noises as if autistic. Did wonders for my reading. The other day, we were at the movies and saw another Osaat Client and the Operations Manager of Osaat, who Trent adores. On this day, both times he became withdrawn, and basically ignored these people, whereas in the past he would be all over them. Another problem, I am now having is that he will not make eye contact when talking to people. The autistic behaviour has me worried that if he is continually ignored he will do it more until it is part of him. I am really frustrated that my rather intelligent son, is now becoming extremely disabled because of poor management of a behaviour that should be addressed. I really feel, that as day placement is a Human Services program, Human Services Behaviour Management Team should be looking into why and giving suggestions on how to fix the problem, not just saying Osaat are happy with his behaviour and their ignoring strategy. Any suggestions, that I could include in my letter would be appreciated. At this stage I am considering writing to our local politician to see if he can intervene. Thanks Keep smiling Jan Re: Help please > > >> I am in the process of writing back to them, part of my argument being > that >> as the problems have occurred from his placement in a Dept. Guest guest
Jan, It sounds to me like you have some good documentation to support your concerns. Are there ANY staff that agree with you? Perhaps someone else who could share some inside info? Maybe even a " mole " . Is that the only program available? I certainly know what you mean about the mimicing behavior, that is one of Maverick's issues also. One of his buddies has CP and when they have been together, Mav does the walk. I wish you luck. Guest guest
Have you checked for thread worms? Dear All, my son has just started taking off his nappy and getting the poo out of it. It always happens at bedtime and appears as if he has to get the poo away from his skin.He has always had gut problems which we have hasd little success in helping him with despite years of biomed and SCD. He is as high as a kite just before this happens and the poo smells of sick. He has never done this before and I am really scared and dont know where to start? Evidence could point to emotional stress as he is 7 and I have a new baby 8 weeks old, but the poo is so vile i think thats a coincidence and that there is infection, bugs, parasites? the GP ran a routine sample which showed nothing , guess ill have to do a more thorough stool test? Anyone have this and could offer some advice? I try not to over react but you have to shower him, clean up etc. Looking forward to hearing from someone Belinda

Guest guest
Hi Belinda, Hope things get better soon. Your post reminded me that we had a problem once where skin was taken off if the nappy wasn't changed immediately. It was very shocking to us that poo could have such an effect on skin. Hope things improve soon. Did you try kefir? Would you like some grains. Best wishes Sandy > > > > Dear All, my son has just started taking off his nappy and getting the > > poo out of it.
