Guest guest
Hello everyone, hope you all had a good christmas and new year. I was after some advice if possible. I know my experience is of only a few ad hoc's here and there but I was looking about working out of the UK and more toward Asia. Singapore would be ideal as my partner can work for his company there too. I just wanted advice from anyone who has been working out there. Whats it like? Do I need any other different qualifications? did you like it? etc etc Any help would be great! Thanks guys and girls Lou xxx
Guest guest
What are your qualies?  Singapore has very little for foreign medics. nurses a bit more, but local pay is atrocious compared to costs. You wouldnt earn more than 2 thou UK a month(4 thou local sing dollars). Housing -well average is4 to 10 thou a month in rent!!!!!  you need a job to come to for the employment pass. you also need that job to be an expat one with a package-ie housing, medical, cost of living ,flights home etc-or you wont make it work.  Locally they have medics and they get the employment. some foreign nurses get work-especially in the private hospitals-but again ,most of the salary would go on housing and living costs-if not all!   basic bottom line is- get a job that posts you here. Or come with your partner and then you have your costs covered, and can work in a local job with your dependants pass-but the ministry of manpower must give permission for you to do so. the local govt scdf(they employ the medics)wont employ you as a foreigner, but the local heavy industry may. ISOS also has their HQ here-and may have something for a local salary.  HK is an easier option. Besides, singapore is on the cusp of recession-they are estimating 1 to 3 % growth this year, but overtstated last years estimates by 12% housing is slated to fall in value by 15 to 30% no welfare foreigners are being phased out as locals think they are taking their jobs(sound familiar?)     : Louise H <mediclou82@...> Sent: Monday, 6 February 2012, 16:58 Subject: Work abroad  Hello everyone, hope you all had a good christmas and new year.
