Guest guest
Ok, you've done that ,its positive and the 12 lead shows changes or vice versa, then what? What if there are no ECG changes? Angola has good cath labs? Point of care is a great tool, but if you lack access to a cardiologist and a cath lab, does it have a place in certain remote offshore areas? What protocol is in place to deal with ACS? Are thrombolytics held offshore? I have used these test at acute clinic settings and have mixed feeling to their accuracy. ECG changes solved any doubt, but feel these aren't yet accepted as all MDs immediately ask for labs. Great question, I hope this gets some feedback going? > > Is anyone doing Point of Care on-board your rig? This includes 12 EKG and Troponin level to R/O AMI. > > > Randy A. Guest guest
That is really the point isn't it. I sure can't do much in Angola. But don't want them to die while wondering what is wrong with them. The thought is to get them off the rig headed someplace appropriate. The end result: take care of your health xpats! They are my only CP cases. So yes, the tropinin is positive . The EKG neg. Now what. Nothing. ISOS flight someplace. That takes us 24hours minimum. Any " now what " suggestions. A trop is like taking X-ray on the rig. No ortho available to fix the fracture. But the diagnostics allow the proper treatment sequence to begin. It's the creators decision if they make it there. We did our part. Thanks for the reply!
