Guest guest
Dear Forum This is indeed amazing that India has committment form international community of resources to combat HIV, but a question that always bothers me is that why the aid is always centered to the high prevelant states. No doubt that this states need resources to support people infected and affected with HIV/AIDS, but i think this alineated approach has resulted in alarming increase of HIV in other states specifically statesx which have lot of migration in response to empoyment. I recently visited a town in Westren India where i came to know that there are 1500 people infected with HIV on ARV, who are finaincing themselves but belong to elite class of the region, and when tried to understand what about other services like counseling and OI managemment the response was not very positive. Also within the high prevelant states concentrtaed efforts need to be placed so that the person who is infected has a sustainable source to support himself and his family. efforts need to be places on IGP of people infected or any one of the family by it can be sustainable. The point i want to make is that donor agencies need not only look at the high prevelant states but there needs to be proper resource allocation startegy where other states do get access to much needed counsleing, care and treatment opportunities. ANd by doing so the less priviliged people can have access to services related to HIV/AIDS. And in high prevelant on more sustainable, which on longer is not dependent on any agency or an individual. Hope that this topic will be discussed at conference at Bangkok and will have more concrete strategy to help PLHA through out the country. If some one knows about this please do let me know.
