Guest guest
HI Gail, in N'Awlins! First thing that comes to mind is raging hormones!! I wonder if is testing her independance and how much control she has on others? Do you think that has picked her father to argue with because she knows he will react? Maybe he can try NOT engaging? You and Danny are much more layed back... not as much fun? As far as the meds not working, could be!! Ziv was on 80mg prozac before switching to zoloft. If I was you, I would mention to Dad that he's being set up and failing miserably! Set some boundaries around appropriate language and actions, including the consequences (eat seperatly from everyone else, time out, ...) I'm sure you have tried to discuss with her what she thinks is going on! Adi was being sooo nasty to Yigal for awhile. I would tell her to stop, but she kept it up. I started to consequence her for every nasty comment or action she did to her dad, she stopped! I hope this helps. Enjoy the holiday weekend. Its Canada Day today, but we're taking Monday off too in sympathy! hugs, wendy in canada wb4@... ps. you didnt tell me that you get mardi gras beads when you 'flash', we'll discuss this in chicago! ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
Guest guest
Raging hormones may be it. One psychiatrist told me that OCD peaks in girls when they are 14. Who knows! Take care and hang in there, Stephany
Guest guest
Gail: Could be hormones, could be poop out, could be GOK (God only knows in ER parlance). Aiden was on 60 mg of Prozac for about 2 years, and we finally had to switch him to Celexa this spring as it didn't seem to be having any effect any longer. He also takes Risperdal which seems to keep his mood more even. Let me tell you though, the tapering off Prozac and up on Celexa was AWFUL!!! I thought I would lose my mind. I can't imagine what life would be like for this child without medication. He was SO depressed and SO obsessed. Fortunately, after a VERY long month, the Celexa took over and has been working beautifully. You might want to see if adding a small dose of something else would enhance the Prozac's effect. We're all rooting for you and . Jule
Guest guest
Hi Gail, Our older son, Louis, experienced similar symptoms during his second year of taking Prozac. His doctor agreed to start prescribing Zoloft and it has been effective for about four years now. We still experience occassional periods of increased symptoms however and over time his depression worsened requiring augmentation with Wellbutrin and now Depakote. I think it is wise to consult with 's doctor soon. Take care. Louis harkins@... Need help Dear All, We are in the midst of a crisis with . She is having more trouble with her OCD issues. In addition, she gets angry and judgemental so easily. She is attending a new creative arts camp where the kids are given more freedom within a structure and seems to enjoy it. She IS a lot more tired, but somehow I don't think that is it. In 2 weeks she leaves to go to the same sleep-away camp as last year. She has not appeared to be bothered by this separation, so I doubt that she is reacting to that. My husband is frustrated and angry at her for her rages and he then yells and vents at me about her. I informed both of them today that they need to address their anger and frustration about ecah other to each other and not to me as I now have tremendous headaches from all this. I am very concerned about whether her meds have stopped working. She takes 60 mg of Prozac daily. I do plan to call her p-dr after the long holiday weekend. However, I also need help as I am getting more and more discouraged and resentful. Any advice, my friends, would be welcomed!Gail in N'AwlinsYou may subscribe to the OCD-L by emailing listserv@... . Guest guest
HI Gail: I think you are very wise to be considering Prozac poop-out. We just went through Paxil poop-out with Steve and it took me quite a long time to figure this out. Finally I realized that for Steve, MDD is the bigger challenge than OCD right now. The irritability and frustration and ready anger were hallmark symptoms of his increasing depression. At first I thought OCD was waxing, then I thought teen angst, then I figured out the poop-out. I had started to expect Steve to notice his inceasing depression but this one he did not notice. He was quite relieved when I finally managed to figure out the poop-out. The more tired problem is often due to sleep disturbance which can be MDD/dysthymia or OCD. BTW, Steve has switched to Luvox from Paxil and it has been amazingly smooth, much, much better than his experience starting out on Paxil. I'm not sure how the Luvox is really working. Steve has told me it is really helping but he is not at home right now so I long to see for myself. I can really relate to your husband as I was also getting pretty irritable and upset about Steve's behavior. Effexor is really helping me stay calmer and this might be something for your husband to consider. It sounds like it is time to schedule a quick visit to 's psychiatrist. Good luck, take care, aloha, Kathy (H) kathyh@... At 03:12 PM 07/01/2000 EDT, you wrote: >Dear All, > We are in the midst of a crisis with . She is having more trouble >with her OCD issues. Guest guest
Hi Gail, I don't have any answers, just sympathy/empathy. A good friend of mine is struggling with her 14 yr old daughter's " teen spirit " and it is not fun. I know how OCD on top of it makes it harder for everyone. Yesterday my friend and I went to a river festival and we saw a family walking in with their 3 kids. The guy at the gate was trying to guess the older girls age " 11? 12? 13? My friend turned around and said " She can't be 13 because then she'd be walking 10 paces behind you, embarrassed to be seen with you and criticizing what you're wearing " . The mom laughed and asked if she had a teenager. My friend said " yes, and if you think what I'm wearing is stupid when I open my mouth to speak you'll just wanna die! " . We all had a good laugh, but there's pain in them thar words! The book " Get Out of My Life, But First Can You Drive Me and Cheryl to the Mall " is helpful to me in terms of setting limits but not getting too engaged in Ava's rude teen- like behavior. Maybe your husband would like to read a bit of it so he doesn't get sucked into 's anger and escalate with her. Dana in NC
Guest guest
Kathy, when I use to rebatch, I never never got anythng pourable only glopable. Spoon it in the mold and smak on counter to get out air and get into the mold, spoon more to fill smak more. I think its pretty normal. I use to say each batch of soap had its own personality and it sure seemed like it. I think your doing fine. The learning is in the doing. Shaye The Soap Shack www.mysoapshack.com Need help Ok, for the first time I decided to follow a receipe for soapmaking instead of adding what ever I had available, and I am still having problems. Here is the receipe 12oz coconut 12 oz. olive oil 19 oz crisco I always rebatch because I want just small amts of a fragrance, and when I tried to remelt, all I got was this big gel ball. I have heard others say they have to glop their soap into the molds, but is that the way it is suppose to be? I have made soap that has been real creamy and easy to pour into molds, but most of those just had crisco and palm in them. Everytime I try and use other oils, this is what I get. Can someone tell me what it really should look like when you remelt. Thanks. Kathy
Guest guest
I find the consistency of rebatch and CPHP to be the same on pouring-I am belting the heck out of my wooden kitchen table by pounding my molds down to settle the glop!! I finally got a Champaign bubble stage in my CPHP Terri! I am finding a lot of soapers use different methods on this-mine went solid on me before getting hot enough to boil in but never did the bubbly thin but looked the same upon the tounge test stage-no bite. Guest guest
Well you can get 50 lbs. of sea salts for $23.95. Snowdrift Farms has them, beautiful white. They are in Arizona. From Nature with Love has them too, they are in New York. But theirs are off white/light brown. For aesthetic reasons, I prefer Snowdrift Farms' salts. Trina and Bill are quite knowledgable and nice (Trina has a nice sense of humor) too. Plus the dendritic (fine) salts that you can disperse oils and fragrance in, to mix with the sea salts. I think 5 lbs. was some ridiculously low price. I seem to recall paying definitely less than $50 for the salts and the shipping to land! Khadiyja Y. Guest guest
I am new at this site and hope I'm doing the right procedure. I use two sources for lotion base, Soap Wizards and Bitter Creek. The second is cheaper, just as " natural " and the company is much nicer. I get salts from From Nature With Love but am going to try the Arizona Comapany mentioned. Depending on your oils added to the lotion, I was told that they themselves will help preserve (Tea Tree, Vit. E for example). The salts I just add EOs of choice. Hope this helps and feel free to reply if I can help further. need help > Hello Everyone: > > I am starting to dabble in making my own hand and body lotions and > bath salts. Guest guest
Skin sensitivities to synthetic perfumes do not necessarily occur immediately - it is usually the case that an immune response develops over many instances of use of the product. It's a shame, but it's also a blessing, because your body is telling you that there's something in it that should be avoided! Guest guest
You dont have to get rid of your perfume completely, you might be able to tolerate indirect use of your scent without irritation. Try spraying a cotton ball with the scent and tucking that in your bra, spritz drawer-lining paper with the scent and use it to line your clothing drawers. Hang a sachet permeated with the scent in the clothes closet....etc.

Actually, if you have a chart that shows all the properties of your oils, the ones with the least amount of iodine in them make harder bars. Also, don't let the name, Stearic Acid, scare you. Guest guest
Thanks Lauri. I'm going to the health food store today, so I'll check on it. Guest guest
OOPS didn't mean that the soap melted too fast, it just disintegrated too quickly during use. Most of the M & P soaps are just decorative, but son wanted me to make him some Patchouli ones so I made regular bars. The large one dissolved in a week! :-( Jodi
Guest guest
Jodi, I was just on the From Nature With Love website and looked at their listing for Stearic Acid. They said it was used for soap AND candles. I've bought stuff from them before and they're really good so I don't know now. Perhaps I dreamed I heard there are two different kinds? <LOL>. Maybe try it with the stearic you have for candles and see what happens. If you do, could you let me know how it turns out because I have stearic for candles as well and I'd love to know. :>) Laurie B. > Thanks Lauri.
