i think i must have an amazing immune system. my last respiratory

infection was in may 2000. i was hospitalized for 1 day and was fine

within a week with only residual fatigue. before that it was spring 1995

when i was exposed to 350 elementary school kids over 2 weeks and lived

with 50 college kids in a not-so-clean housing cooperative during finals

when sanitation is a low priority. it seems like after that 1995 season of

germs, my immune became quite strong.

i have 5-7 personal assistants at any given time, and many visitors and

clients who live with housemates and/or bring their germy kids over. my

only rules are, if you're sick but feel well enough to visit/work, 1) tell

me so i can decide if i'm willing to be exposed based on if i've rested

well and/or am not under debilitating stress, and 2) wash your hands more

than usual.

there are a few things that may be factors:

1 - i don't use bronchial dilators more than 2x/yr. they weaken me and i

seem to respond better to chinese herbs if i take them early enough with a

sore throat or sniffles. i take gan mao ling -

http://www.asiachi.com/ganmaoling.html

2 - because i can't use my hands much, i don't touch germy things and then

my face...telephone, doorknob, computer keyboard, table top...

3 - my ventilator settings are high, similar to what dr. bach

recommends. i take regular breaths with it, but i have it set just high

enough to stack my breaths easily to over-inflate my lungs when i need to

cough. my lungs stay very clear.

4 - i use the vent to take a deep breath before i swallow food or beverage

so i won't aspirate.

5 - i take allergy medication in the spring and summer.
