Guest guest
Cabbage juice, raw, a few oz a day for a few days can really heal an ulcer fast. A little less traumatic than the cayene. And can be used for a few days before cayene, if aperson wants a gentler way to go to start with. Olive leaf extract is excellent for h. pylori. Donna http://www.excellentthings.com ulcer I was wondering if anyone could give me the protocol for healing my stomach ulcer? Should I use cayenne pepper and if so what strength or Aloe Vera Juice or should I use both. Also how do you know if your H pylori is gone. I am assuming you have to have a blood test. I went the antibiotic route because I had already purchased them before I found out about the other remedies. So far I feel pretty much the same so I can't tell but I am sure the ulcer is still there because I can feel it. I thought I would try the olive leaf extract just to be sure. I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks a bunch, Bea OxyPLUS is an unmoderated e-ring dealing with oxidative therapies, and other alternative self-help subjects. THERE IS NO MEDICAL ADVICE HERE! Guest guest
> What happens if you develop an ulcer after the DS? I have a friend who > recently recovered from an ulcer and she can't take any vitamins or aspirin > now. Would you be completely hosed? , If you develop an ulce after the DS you would be treated for the ulcer. Undergoing an EGD would be different after the DS due to the DS portion. Much of the duodenum would be out of reach. You would be treated medically and then checked to see if the ulcer has healed. I don't know why your friend can't take vitamins. ASA, however, has an ulcerogenic effect on the stomach and the DS or even the gastric reduction does not have anything to do with that. ie if she got an ulcer from too many NSAIDS (aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, etc), then she would be off them for life, as would a DSer. Guest guest
Here's a little history of my friend: She was on vacation in San when she had severe abdominal pain. She was admitted to the local emergency room to have an emergency gall bladder removed. She was suffering from sepsis (sp?). She never did get better when she got home and ended up in the emergency room again only to find that she had an ulcer in her stomach and it had eroded to the point where she was leaking stomach fluids on to the gall bladder area. She was hospitalized for almost four weeks and was fed intravenously (sp?). She has since recovered but now can not take any thing. She's one of my very best friends and wants me to make sure that I would not be " hosed " (her words). I know this is a hypothetical, but I just would like to know if there is a possible remedy for this situation. Sincerely, Re: Ulcer > > What happens if you develop an ulcer after the DS? Your friend was obviously in the intensive care unit. Sepsis means she had infection in her blood stream. That most likely came from her gallbladder. Ulcers are common, we try to prevent them, with ICU care. She obviously was *much* better since she was discharged home, not dead! LOL! One of the risks associated with ulcers is erosion through the stomach wall. She was " NPO " or " nothing by mouth " while it healed. Perhaps surgery was not an option for her. This is the choice sometimes. No eating and let it heal on its own. I don't understand her reference to being " hosed " . Marta
Guest guest
> its out of reach?? really? so they cant do an endoscopy?? > > vicki They can easily scope the stomach and the part of the intestines attached to the stomach (Alimentary Channel)Which includes a portion of the duodenum....but they can't get to the billio-Pancreatic Channel. Plus the Gallbladder/pancrease because their biles dump into the billio-pancreatic channel (of course with Dr. K we no longer have a gallbadder, but some surgeons leave it in). Look at the diagram of the surgery and it should be clear. Jo

Guest guest
> I don't understand her reference to being " hosed " . Well, if the situation happened to a DS patient, how would that patient remain on the rigid vitamin regimen that is required. I guess it's a round-about way to ask whether a DS patient in that situation would waste away from malnutrition.

Well, we are still at risk for the normal things that can happen to people, of course. Remember, Dr.K requires a close follow-up for two years after the DS so I doubt anyone would have an ulcer and it would be missed. I have never had a patient with a perferated ulcer, funny, so can't comment on the rigid regimen, but I am wondering why she has the impression it is lifelong? I would think that if a DS patient had a perferated ulcer, that it would be surgically fixed so that he or she would *not* have to remain off vitamins for an extended period of time. Of course, as long as they were NPO they would be on TPN and the vitamins would be in the bag. Marta

Guest guest
Hi Caitilin, The newsletter was a printed one but would think you might find it at their website. Life Enhancement was the name. Mastic is the substance. If you can't find it let me know and I will look.
